Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Werner Gregory (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gunnar Ostron (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gunnar Ostron will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Werner Gregory!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Gunnar Ostron!
The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Jeff Smith and Ryoma Takatsuka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ostron drives through with a takedown into Gregory's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Ostron drops back, looking for a kneebar! Gregory looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Gregory looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Gregory!

Ostron tries to bench press Gregory off him but Gregory keeps the position.

Gregory is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Ostron is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Ostron throws Gregory to one side and escapes!
Gregory fails with an attempt to clinch.

Gregory clinches up with Ostron and pushes him back against the cage.

Ostron pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Ostron keeps the fight on the outside.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Ostron misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Ostron closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Ostron swings around for an armbar but Gregory sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Ostron's guard.

Gregory is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Gregory stops Ostron from standing up.

Ostron is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Gregory is aware though and is defending well.
Gregory won't allow Ostron to sweep him here.
Gregory trying to control the position from guard on top but Ostron is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Gregory loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Gregory is looking to stand up but Ostron won't let him.

Gregory decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Ostron, up you get!

Ostron closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Gregory's guard.

Gregory pushes Ostron off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

Ostron fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Gregory to the ground. Ostron is now in Gregory's guard.

Gregory has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Ostron has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Ostron's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Gregory tries to clinch there but Ostron circles away.

Gregory tries to sprawl but Ostron drives through with a takedown into half guard.

Gregory kicks off Ostron and gets to his feet.

Ostron shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Gregory is trying to defend but Ostron finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Ostron is taking a breather. Gregory says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Ostron is looking to advance position but Gregory won't allow it.
Gregory could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Ostron is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Gregory has managed to free his arm - good work.

Ostron is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Ostron seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Ostron is looking for a kimura but Gregory is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Ostron to get the leverage.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Ostron is stalling here. Gregory is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Ostron seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Gregory has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
Ostron tries to improve position but can't.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Ostron can do anything to dispel that myth.
Ostron wants to control but Gregory postures up.

Ostron is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Gregory defends it well.
Werner Gregory overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Ostron prevents Gregory from standing back up.
Ostron stalling away here and it's allowed Gregory to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ostron not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Ostron pulls Gregory in close to prevent any damage.

Gregory drops back looking for a leg! Ostron is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Ostron manages to kick Gregory off! Gregory jumps back into Ostron's guard.

Ostron wants to stand up but Gregory is controlling him.

Ostron throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Gregory tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Ostron is in Gregory's guard.
Gregory might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Ostron trying to control but Gregory is working from the bottom.
Ostron slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Gregory is looking to stand up but Ostron isn't so interested in that idea.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Werner Gregory will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!



Ostron shoots in and bounces Gregory off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Ostron slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Ostron trying to control but Gregory is working from the bottom.
Ostron must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gregory being controlled here, momentarily.

Gregory is looking to stand up but Ostron isn't so interested in that idea.
Ostron looking to sit in guard and control but Gregory gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Gregory has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Ostron is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Gregory gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.

Ostron will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Gregory slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Gregory is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Gregory won't allow Ostron to get back to his feet.
Ostron is pulling down on Gregory's head. It's preventing any offense from Gregory, at least for the moment.

Gregory drops back looking for a leg! Ostron is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Ostron manages to kick Gregory off! Gregory jumps back into Ostron's guard.
Ostron tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Ostron has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Ostron closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Gregory to the mat! Gregory manages to get full guard.
Ostron trying to control but Gregory is working from the bottom.

Ostron drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Gregory manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Ostron has Gregory in his guard.

Gregory wants to control from the top but Ostron keeps moving.
Ostron really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Gregory. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Ostron punching from the bottom.
Ostron is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Gregory is controlling him.
Ostron looking to hit a scissor sweep but Gregory is one step ahead there.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Ostron has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Gregory off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Gunnar Ostron has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Werner Gregory is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Ostron wants to clinch.

I would just about give that final round to Gunnar Ostron.
I think Gregory has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
