Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Georges StPierre (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kris Spade (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Spade has chosen The Final Countdown - Europe as his entrance music. Georges StPierre has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Georges StPierre! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kris Spade! The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, William Peck and Elvis Blanc.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nice sprawl there from Spade as StPierre shoots in. StPierre shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than StPierre was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Spade is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Spade is trying desperately to improve position. Spade tries to hold on but StPierre pushes him away. StPierre throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage. Spade tries to reverse the position but StPierre maintains control. StPierre has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. StPierre wants to control the pace but Spade is squirming around nicely. StPierre is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Spade is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Spade really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Spade tries to hold on but StPierre pushes him away. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. StPierre trying to control but he's not successful this time. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Spade is bucking up trying to escape but StPierre cracks him with another couple of good strikes. Spade working to try and regain half guard.
StPierre lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
StPierre sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Spade is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Spade can do anything to dispel that myth. Spade is trying to escape the mount.

Spade looks gassed! Spade needs to remain patient if he's going to get out of this sticky situation. StPierre slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.

Spade really doesn't want to stay on the ground with StPierre. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Spade covering up well under a series of strikes from StPierre. StPierre looking to soften up his opponent with punches.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. StPierre is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Spade is defending well though. StPierre let's go of the attempt for now. Spade trying to control but not successfully. StPierre lands with a couple of good shots - one to the side of the head and one questionable shot that could be viewed as to the back of the head but the referee lets it go.

StPierre changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Spade tries to avoid it but StPierre manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Spade to the ground. Spade escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. StPierre closes the distance and clinches up with Spade, looking for a takedown. StPierre pushes Spade against the cage but Spade circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. StPierre changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Spade looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Spade is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Spade is in a bad spot here and he knows it... just holding on for now. Spade is looking to regain half guard here but StPierre keeps moving and retains side control. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

StPierre decides to stand up, so the ref orders Spade to his feet. Spade stuffs the takedown. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Georges StPierre. That's going to take a lot out of him. Spade fails to land the takedown.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. StPierre has his takedown stuffed and Spade counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in StPierre's guard now. StPierre trying to control the position.
StPierre is controlling Spade's posture. Spade sitting in guard, not really doing much. Spade wants to pass the guard but StPierre is keeping the position.

Spade trying to control the position from guard on top but StPierre is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Spade content to stall in guard here.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. StPierre wants to get back to his feet but Spade is in a dominant position and won't allow it. StPierre thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage. StPierre has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Spade can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. StPierre controlling the position. Spade stopping the sweep attempt from StPierre. Spade lands a couple of decent looking shots. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close second round but Kris Spade will probably get the nod - 10:9. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!
