The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Dux misses with a series of wild punches.
Tim tries to counter by closing the distance. Kurt Dux seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Tim takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him. Dux throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Tim counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Dux really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Tim is working for a kimura here but Dux manages to reverse the position and he's now in Tim's guard.
Tim is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
This has been an exciting period of action! Dux got a little sloppy there for a moment and Tim has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Dux has managed to get both his arms back between Tim's legs - danger averted. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Dux stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Tim swivels though and keeps the full guard. Tim is pulling down on Dux's head to control his posture.
That's one minute gone in the round. Tim is continuing to stall. Dux thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Tim pushes a forearm under Dux's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Dux is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:37 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Tim Tim!
