Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Sergei Babakov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Yevgeni Kozlov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kozlov has chosen For those about to Rock as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Sergei Babakov! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Yevgeni Kozlov! The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, Sandra Marshall and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kozlov tries to clinch up but Babakov circles away and keeps his distance. Babakov wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch. Kozlov shoots for a double leg takedown but Babakov sprawls well. He's pushed Kozlov's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Babakov wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch. Kozlov shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Babakov counters by clinching up. Kozlov working hard to break the clinch. Kozlov is working for takedown but Babakov is calmly controlling the position for now. Sergei Babakov has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Yevgeni Kozlov. Babakov breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Kozlov misses with a takedown and Babakov holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Kozlov's coach down at Harambe Remembrance Hall was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Kozlov's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight. Babakov stalls. Babakov effectively controlling the action here. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Kozlov has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Babakov is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Babakov stops a takedown attempt from Kozlov.
Babakov scores with a shot to the side of Kozlov's head. Kozlov tries to pull guard but Babakov holds him up against the cage and eventually Kozlov drops back down to his feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Babakov breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Kozlov doesn't succeed with the takedown and Babakov counters with a lovely shot to the body. Yevgeni Kozlov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Excellent takedown into side control there by Kozlov. Kozlov working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Kozlov looks winded! Kozlov is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Babakov is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Kozlov looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Babakov knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Kozlov on the ground.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Babakov is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Kozlov tries to score with some ground and pound. Babakov controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage. The strikes coming from Kozlov are missing the target in this wave of attacks. Kozlov is trying to get an arm triangle but Babakov is defending well. Babakov is not content to let Kozlov control the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kozlov creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Babakov sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike. Kozlov trying to control the action but Babakov is working from the bottom. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Kozlov works to advance to full mount. Babakov defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Kozlov looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet. Kozlov is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Babakov has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Babakov on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Babakov tries to get out of the position. Kozlov trying to control but he's not successful this time. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Yevgeni Kozlov dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Kozlov fails in his attempt to clinch. Kozlov throws a low kick, looking for Babakov's leg but Babakov calmly moves out of range. A punch lands to the side of Kozlov 's head but he takes it in his stride. Kozlov doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Nice straight punches there by Babakov. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Babakov. Babakov connects with a nice looking jab.
Babakov scores with a one two! Kozlov had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Kozlov is rocked! Kozlov with a poor takedown and Babakov moves into the clinch. Kozlov is still on wobbly legs! Can Babakov finish him? Babakov gets through Kozlov's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head. I was talking to Babakov's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Kozlov's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button! Babakov lands a right hand. Babakov creates a bit of space for himself and rocks Kozlov with a big uppercut! Kozlov tries to clinch up but Babakov pushes him back against the cage and lands another monster strike that crumples Kozlov to the mat! Kozlov covers up and Babakov unloads with more strikes until the referee steps in to end the bout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:50 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Sergei Babakov!
