PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Baki Pekyew (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michael Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jackson has chosen Black Sabbath - Children of the Sea as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Baki Pekyew!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Michael Jackson!
The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, Bart Greer and Sandra Marshall.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pekyew throws a body kick despite being completely out of range
and Jackson counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Jackson jabs Pekyew to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Jackson moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.

Pekyew fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Jackson, pushing him back against the cage.
Pekyew goes for a takedown in the clinch but Jackson prevents it.
Pekyew has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Jackson after a bit of a struggle.
Our sources have told us that Pekyew has been working on his elbows in the gym.
Pekyew's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!

Pekyew has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Jackson is trying to keep an underhook but Pekyew manages to get the takedown into half guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Jackson keeps control of the position for the meantime.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jackson keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Pekyew is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Jackson sees it coming and defends easily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Pekyew throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Pekyew throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Jackson tries to get to full guard but Pekyew has control of the leg.
Pekyew wants to control but Jackson is keeping him busy.
Pekyew landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Pekyew not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Pekyew throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Pekyew is looking to take a break and control but Jackson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Jackson gets back to full guard.

Pekyew drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Jackson dives on top into guard.


That's two minutes gone in the round.
Pekyew wants to stand and escape but Jackson is having none of it.
Jackson is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Pekyew wants to stand but Jackson is controlling the position.

Pekyew working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Jackson doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Jackson manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Pekyew can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Jackson controls the pace.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Jackson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Pekyew swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Jackson is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Jackson lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Michael Jackson is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Jackson cracks Pekyew with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Pekyew tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Jackson pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Pekyew is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Michael Jackson!
Michael Jackson was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
