Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between James Wood (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chris White (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, James Wood! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Chris White! The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, John Kavanagh and Chad Campbell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Wood throws a jab when White was well out of range. Wood scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Wood misses with a hook
and White counters into the clinch. Nicely done. White breaks from the clinch.

Wood fakes high and swings low for a body shot but White manages to avoid it. Wood will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Wood lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but White circles away quickly and effectively. White wants to counter the offense by Wood and move into the clinch position. Wood misses with a lunging right hand
and White counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by White. White keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Wood's efforts to push away. White breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. White closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Wood won't allow White to pass to mount. White is thwarting Wood's attempts to control the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wood is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but White pulls his head out easily. White moves into side control, avoiding a weak kimura attempt from Wood. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Wood manages to work his way to half guard, despite White's best efforts. Wood is trying to get back to full guard. Wood might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. White is pressing down on Wood's thigh, looking to free his foot. Wood is holding on for now. Well, if White is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

That's two minutes gone in the round. White landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Wood is in trouble now - White has advanced to mount! Wood bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done! White escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Wood gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. White is pulling down on Wood's head to control his posture. White is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Wood postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! White is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Wood, into his guard. White in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Wood is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. White seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. White trying to control but Wood is working from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. White's corner is telling him to maintain position. Wood could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Wood is looking for a triangle but White pushes his legs off easily.

White is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Wood has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. White is looking to defend but Wood has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for White! Wood pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, White taps out and this one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). James Wood! During a confident post fight interview, James Wood thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
