Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 28 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Clay Mercer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Josh Madhaki!
The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Taro Takaoka and Hirohito Nitta.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mercer has managed to clinch.
Madhaki softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage.
Mercer blocks a couple of punches on the inside.

Madhaki pulls guard.
Madhaki trying to control the position.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Mercer accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Madhaki is adopting a defensive guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Madhaki keeping moving, preventing Mercer from controlling successfully.

Madhaki pushes Mercer off and scrambles back to his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mercer tries to score with a low kick but Madhaki moves his leg out of the way.
Mercer defending well as Madhaki loads up on a big left hand.
Madhaki takes a swing at Mercer's ribcage but misses.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Madhaki is looking to land body kicks.
Mercer has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Madhaki throws a looping overhand right but Mercer ducks down to avoid it.
Madhaki ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Mercer moves away.
Mercer tries to counter by clinching up but Madhaki breaks away and moves out of range.
Madhaki avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

Mercer jabbing away but nothing is landing.
A nice side step and Madhaki releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.
Mercer goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.


It looks like Josh Madhaki has been cut.
Madhaki misses with a left hand
letting Mercer counter with a right hand.

Mercer lands a big uppercut and Madhaki crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Madhaki looks OK. Mercer waves Madhaki back to his feet!


Madhaki is rocked!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Madhaki gets caught by a big overhand right and goes down! Mercer gets on top of him and starts throwing some serious punches until the ref intervenes and stops the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:43 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Clay Mercer!
Clay Mercer was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
