Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Kieran Mistry (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Wu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kieran Mistry has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kieran Mistry!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, James Wu!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Robert Douchet and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wu wants to clinch up but Mistry keeps it at a distance.
Mistry misses with a body shot.
Mistry stuffs the takedown.
Mistry rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Wu moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Kieran Mistry seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Wu doesn't manage to clinch there - Mistry circles away.
Wu moves in looking to clinch but Mistry pushes him off.
Mistry looks to throw the jab but Wu is out of range.
Wu shoots in but Mistry avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Wu tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Mistry paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Mistry went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Wu is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Wu counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Wu avoids a punch combination nicely.
Wu dives in for a single leg takedown but Mistry sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
A right hook to the body lands for Wu.
Wu drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

A nice left hand lands by Wu.
Mistry avoiding damage.
Wu drops down looking for an ankle pick but Mistry pulls his leg out and moves away.
Wu tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Mistry paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Wu changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Mistry tries to avoid it but Wu manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Mistry to the ground. Mistry escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Mistry throws a nice looking combination but Wu bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
A little jabbing left from Wu on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.

Wu moves into the clinch.

Mistry breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Mistry misses with a wild body shot.
Wu misses with a takedown attempt - Mistry sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

and Mistry connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Wu doesn't manage to clinch there - Mistry circles away.
Sloppy strikes from Mistry. Those never looked like landing.
Wu doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

Mistry closes the distance and clinches.
Mistry is trying to push Wu away but Wu has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Wu misses with a short punch on the inside.
Wu goes for a takedown in the clinch but Mistry prevents it.
Wu tries to pull guard but Mistry forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Wu tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Wu is trying to trip Mistry. He has hold of a leg but Mistry is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Wu persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Mistry is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Wu is controlling him.
Mistry wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Wu slips a jab and a cross from Mistry.
Wu ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Mistry moves away.
Mistry circles away from the clinch attempt.
Mistry misses with a two punch combination.
Mistry misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Wu.
Wu tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kieran Mistry dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Wu takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

Mistry lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Wu backs up against the cage.

Mistry is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Wu can do to turn this around?

Wu clinches up with Mistry and pushes him back against the cage.
Wu is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
Mistry is trying to break the clinch but Wu has him pressed against the cage.

Mistry scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Mistry looks to land a right hand but Wu moved out of range.
Wu darts in looking for a takedown but Mistry gets double underhooks and turns Wu into the cage.
Mistry is looking light on his feet compared to last time was saw him fight.

Wu closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Mistry quickly recovers to half guard.

Wu passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Mistry!
Wu has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Mistry wants to control but Wu is having none of it.

Mistry on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Mistry tries to get out of the position.
Mistry is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Wu fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Wu cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
My spies in Kung Fu Fighting Club ($299 entry fee) inform me that Wu has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

Wu lands a big shot there that rocks Mistry but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Oh Mistry is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Mistry tries to lock up and control but Wu gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Wu has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Mistry's face.

James Wu showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Mistry's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Mistry is in a horrible position here. Wu smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

James Wu comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Wu has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
