PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Freddie Storm (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and hassan haidar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Storm kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Open Hapiness. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Freddie Storm!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, hassan haidar!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Chris Edwards and Donald Grub.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

haidar shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

haidar drops back, looking for a kneebar! Storm looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Storm looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Storm!
Storm could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Storm tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Storm tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
haidar is looking for a sweep.
haidar misses with an elbow from the bottom.
Storm cracks haidar with an elbow. That is naaassty.

Storm stands up and beckons haidar to his feet.
haidar shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Storm as he avoids it easily.

Storm scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
haidar tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Storm presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!
haidar is trying to escape the mount.

Storm is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. haidar can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Storm scores with a couple of good head shots there.
haidar can't escape the position.
haidar is squirming around, avoiding Storm's attempts to control the action.
haidar is trying to reverse the position but instead Storm has taken his back - oops!

haidar turns into Storm and is now in his guard.
Storm working a defensive guard but haidar passes into half guard.

Storm is breathing heavily.

haidar is trying to work for a kimura but Storm is defending well.

haidar seems to be working for a kimura but Storm defends the submission attempt.

haidar is in close to Storm's body, working some short punches and elbows.
haidar wants to pass the guard but Storm is keeping the position.
haidar won't allow Storm to sweep him here.

haidar postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Storm is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of haidar, into his guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Storm looking to pass the guard.
Storm trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

haidar is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Storm wants to improve his position but haidar is controlling well.

haidar postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Storm to stand up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Freddie Storm dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



haidar changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Storm looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Storm is pushing haidar's head away, looking to escape. haidar manages to hold on to the position though.

haidar working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Storm regains half guard.
Storm looks like he's trying to stand up.
Storm wants to get back to full guard but haidar has passed into side control.
haidar prevents Storm from getting the reversal.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

haidar looking to secure an arm triangle but Storm defends it well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
haidar fails to move to back control.
Storm is in all sorts of trouble here.
haidar won't let Storm get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Storm really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
haidar is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Storm can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Storm is trying to reverse the position but instead haidar has taken his back - oops!

haidar is working hard for the rear naked choke here.
Storm is defending well here and trying to improve his position.
Storm breaks haidar's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Storm trying to control but haidar is working from the bottom.
Storm is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because haidar is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

haidar has his foot on Storm's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Storm works his way back into a safe position though.
Storm has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

haidar is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Storm has his hands clasped together but haidar extends an breaks Storm's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by haidar.
