Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Guilhaume Prevot (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Arthur Bishop (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Guilhaume Prevot!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 25 - 21 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Arthur Bishop!
The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Shirou Masuda and Yukihiro Shimada.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bishop drives through with a takedown into guard.
Prevot is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Bishop trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bishop postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Bishop content to stall in guard here.
Bishop tries to free his leg and advance position but Prevot is retaining full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bishop trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Prevot manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!

Bishop is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Still in half guard, Bishop seems content to control.
My spies in Schneebly's Circuit Training inform me that Bishop has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

Prevot is looking to control Bishop's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Prevot avoid being mounted?
Bishop is taking a breather. Prevot says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Bishop is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Prevot sees it coming and defends easily.
Bishop has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Bishop wants to pass to mount but Prevot is defending the position.
Bishop slips a nice elbow through Prevot's hands, connecting with Prevot's forehead.

Bishop wants to work for an arm triangle but Prevot is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Bishop is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Prevot defends it well.
Bishop is thwarting Prevot's attempts to control the position.
Bishop working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Prevot is defending against the submission attempts here by Bishop.

Prevot gets full guard.
Bishop stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Prevot swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Prevot controls Bishop momentarily but Bishop frees himself.
Bishop is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Arthur Bishop dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Bishop throws a head kick that misses.
Prevot is looking for a counter combo.

Bishop forces Prevot back against the cage and clinches.

Prevot is fighting off a takedown attempt but Bishop is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Prevot to the mat. Prevot regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Bishop is stalling in the full guard.
Prevot not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Bishop has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Bishop in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Prevot tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Bishop!

After winning the bout, Arthur Bishop thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
