Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 7 - 0, fighting out of London, Rob Salek!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Kimbo johnson!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Colin Fotheringham and Andrew Berry.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
johnson clinches.
Salek misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from johnson.
Salek lands an elbow inside.
Salek lands a knee to the head.
johnson drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
johnson has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Salek is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Salek looking to stall.
Salek's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Salek lands with a thumping leg kick.
Salek wants to clinch.
Salek uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by johnson.
johnson keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
johnson looks for a takedown but Salek sprawls well.
Rob Salek has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kimbo johnson.
Salek shoots and misses
and johnson counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Salek's guard now.
johnson pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Salek is keeping the position for now.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Salek wants to get back to his feet but johnson is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
johnson is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
johnson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Salek swivels though and keeps the full guard.
johnson is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Salek wants to stand but johnson is controlling the position.
johnson drops back looking for a submission - "I'm sorry sir, but I'm gunna break your leg" says johnson as he cranks on the unfortunate limb! Salek screams and taps out before any major damage is done! Don't mess with johnson! Nice submission victory there!
