Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Lon Hogan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Deair Shaw (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Deair Shaw has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Lon Hogan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Deair Shaw!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Gregory Folan and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Shaw gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Hogan pulls guard.

Hogan could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Hogan working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Shaw doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Shaw manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hogan is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Hogan looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Shaw passes into side control.
Shaw really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hogan. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Hogan sneaks back into half guard.
Shaw is trying to control. Hogan wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Shaw stops Hogan from getting back to his feet.
Hogan works his way to full guard. Good work.

Shaw must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hogan lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Shaw has momentary wrist control but Hogan slips an elbow through the middle.

Hogan connects with a couple of short punches.

Shaw is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Hogan lands a couple of digs.

Hogan is working Shaw over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Hogan has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Hogan lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Hogan throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Hogan is in close to Shaw's body, working some short punches and elbows.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Shaw looks winded!
Shaw has his hands on Hogan's head, controlling the position.
Hogan distracts Shaw with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Hogan with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Hogan keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Shaw's head.
Hogan content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.

Hogan is working Shaw over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Hogan postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Shaw wants to improve his position but instead Hogan has moved into half guard.

Hogan is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Shaw defends it well.
Shaw is trying to maintain the position but Hogan is very close to passing his half guard.

Hogan looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Hogan is looking for a kimura here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lon Hogan dominated that round.
That's time! Hogan's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.



Hogan takes the fight into the clinch.

Hogan breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Shaw feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Hogan tries to land a sweep but no joy.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hogan is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.


Hogan is working for a submission of some sort.
Shaw is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Hogan scores with a couple of nice shots.

Hogan is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Shaw sees it coming and defends easily.

Hogan is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Hogan is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Hogan landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Hogan looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Shaw with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Shaw wants to get back to full guard.

Shaw is breathing heavily.

Hogan is working for a kimura but Shaw is defending it quite comfortably.

Hogan maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Shaw could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Hogan has cracked it and Shaw is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Hogan!
