PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Isac Harris (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steve Wright (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Isac Harris!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Steve Wright!
The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Shigeki Sano and Shigeki Fujiwara.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Harris fails with the takedown.
Harris connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Wright fails in his attempt to clinch.
Wright misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Harris shoots in looking for a takedown. Wright tries to sprawl out of it but Harris keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Wright manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Harris looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Wright pulls Harris in to control the position.
Harris with a flurry of punches that miss.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Harris tries to free his leg and advance position but Wright is retaining full guard.
Wright has control of Harris's left arm, preventing Harris from doing any damage.
Harris wants to stand but Wright has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Harris trying to control but Wright is working from the bottom.
Wright is trying to control the position but Harris postures up.
Harris wants to stand and escape but instead Wright has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Harris controls Wright momentarily but Wright frees himself.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Harris throws a head kick that misses.
Wright doesn't manage to clinch there - Harris circles away.
Wright stuffs the takedown attempt from Harris. Harris gets slowly back to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Isac Harris. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Wright wants to clinch.

Wright shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Wright was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Harris is breathing heavily.

Wright lands a big elbow.
Harris wants to control but Wright is having none of it.

Wright stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.
Harris fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Wright shoots in and bounces Harris off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Wright makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Wright is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Wright throwing strikes from guard but Harris blocks nicely.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Steve Wright dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Wright fails in his attempt to clinch.
Wright looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Harris is fending him off so far but Wright persists. Nope, Harris circles away and we're back to standing.
Isac Harris seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Wright wants to clinch up but Harris keeps it at a distance.
Harris fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Harris keeps the fight on the outside.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Wright tries to close the distance and clinch up but Harris swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Harris wants to clinch up but Wright keeps it at a distance.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Wright wants to clinch but Harris slips to the side

and Harris holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Harris turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!

You can see the frustration on Wright's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Harris tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Harris has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Wright sneaks back into half guard.
Wright trying to control but Harris postures up.

Harris is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Wright sees it coming and defends easily.

Wright manages to escape and get back to his feet!
Wright fails to land the takedown.
Harris shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Wright counters with a nice body kick.
Harris tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Harris has closed the distance and engaged Wright in a clinch.
Harris throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Wright blocks it with crossed arms.
Harris wants to break the clinch but can't.
Harris keeps control of Wright as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Harris tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Wright just stands there and leans against the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Isac Harris. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Wright avoids a wild elbow strike from Harris.
Wright tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Harris smiles and moves away.
Harris throws a body kick despite being completely out of range

and Wright holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Wright using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Harris has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Harris wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.
Harris is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Wright gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Wright just misses with a elbow thrown towards Harris's brow.
Harris lands a hook to the side of the head.
Harris can't get the takedown.
Harris tries for a takedown. No joy.
Wright landing some nice looking knees to the body.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Wright has had enough of the clinch but Harris keeps him there for the moment.
Wright throws an elbow but it's blocked.
Wright tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Harris just stands there and leans against the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Isac Harris will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!



Harris drives through and clinches with Wright against the cage.
Wright tries to land knees in the clinch but Harris avoids the damage to the body.
Wright comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.
Harris wants a takedown.
Wright prevents Harris from breaking the clinch.
Harris has had enough of the clinch but Wright keeps him there for the moment.

Harris escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Harris pushes Wright up against the cage in a clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Harris has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Wright uses from the top position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Wright advances to half guard.
Harris is trying to escape back to his feet but Wright uses the scramble to pass into side control.
Wright is looking to take a break and control but Harris is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Harris is trying to get back to half guard.
Wright is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Harris's shoulder. That is not cool.
Harris is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Wright is one step ahead and moves to full mount!
Harris wants to hold on but Wright pushes him away.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Wright gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!
Harris doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Wright counters with a flying knee. Nice.
Wright tries to clinch

and Harris decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Wright's guard.

Wright keeping moving, preventing Harris from controlling successfully.
Harris throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Wright works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Wright is trying to control the position but Harris postures up.
Harris throwing strikes but missing.
Harris trying to control the position from guard on top but Wright is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Harris forces Wright back against the cage and clinches.
Harris wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Wright has him pressed against the cage.
Wright is trying to break the clinch but Harris has him pressed against the cage.
Harris fails to pull the fight into his guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Isac Harris. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Harris has picked Wright up - he's going for a ride! Harris dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

Wright manages to escape and get back to his feet!
Wright tries to clinch but Harris is having none of it.

Harris forces Wright back against the cage and clinches.

And that's the end of the fight!
Isac Harris showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Harris has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
