PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between BJ Pencil (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hanzel Spetz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hanzel Spetz will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Spetz changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Pencil looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Pencil looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!

Spetz has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Spetz moves out of range as Pencil throws a body kick.

Spetz closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Spetz tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Spetz controlling the position from side mount.
Pencil wants to control but Spetz postures up.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Pencil takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.

Spetz is trying to get an arm triangle but Pencil is defending well.
Spetz is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
I looks like Spetz might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Spetz working the ground and pound.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Spetz scores with a couple of short elbows.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Spetz wants to control but Pencil is keeping him busy.

Spetz stands up and beckons Pencil to his feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Spetz shoots in looking for a takedown. Pencil tries to sprawl out of it but Spetz keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Pencil manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Spetz pushes Pencil up against the cage in a clinch.

Spetz ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Spetz no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Spetz working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Pencil doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Spetz is tightening it up a little... Pencil has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Pencil reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Pencil taps out! nice BJJ there by Spetz!
