Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 22 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Ivo Koljeno! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
11 - 14 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Darren Martin! The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Donatello Bradman and Ben Watson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Martin gets a clinch. We've been hearing reports that Koljeno has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight. Martin pressing his opponent against the cage. Koljeno breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Martin shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Koljeno is trying to defend but Martin finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Koljeno is looking to get back to is feet but Martin passes into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Martin scores with a couple of short elbows. Martin scoring with punches and elbows. Martin connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Koljeno some visible discomfort.
Martin is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Koljeno knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Martin controls the position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Martin lands a few punches from side control. Martin decides to stand back up. Martin steps back and let's Koljeno get back to his feet. Martin throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena. Koljeno is breathing heavily. Martin is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Koljeno's half guard. Martin stalling. Martin is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Martin has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Martin working over Koljeno with some ground and pound. Koljeno looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Koljeno might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Martin lands a nice short elbow. Martin moves into full mount! Koljeno won't be happy about that! Martin content just to control the position here. Martin looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Martin lands a nice shot to the head. Martin with the ground and pound from mount. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Koljeno regains control of the situation pretty easily.
