Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
11 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Joe Bailey!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Steaphan Beattie!
The judges for this bout are , Don Winkell and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Beattie forces Bailey back against the cage and clinches.
Beattie misses with a hook from the clinch.
I was talking to Bailey's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
Beattie lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage.
Beattie tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Bailey is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Bailey is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Beattie pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Beattie fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Beattie tries to work over Bailey's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
A head punch on the inside from Beattie fails to land.
Beattie lands a hook to the side of the head.
Beattie throws a punch but it's blocked by Bailey.
Beattie lands a hook that snaps the head of Bailey backwards.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Beattie softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage.
Beattie can't find room to land a body shot as Bailey controls the action.
Bailey manages to break the clinch.
Oooooh!!! Beattie has knocked Bailey down with a huge combo! Beattie steps away and waves a wobbly Bailey back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!
Bailey is rocked!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Bailey scores with a hook to the body. Beattie takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Oh Bailey is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Beattie checks the leg kick.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Bailey slips under a jab.
Bailey backs away from a small jab... but Beattie lunges forward with a huge superman punch! Bailey crumples to the ground as his mouth piece is sent flying! Beattie with a spectacular finish!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:10 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Superman Punch). Steaphan Beattie!
A relieved looking Steaphan Beattie thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
