Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ahmed Pate (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Oleg Vlasov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Ahmed Pate! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Oleg Vlasov! The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Colin Fray and Roger Salmon.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Vlasov fails with a takedown attempt. Vlasov closes the distance and clinches up with Pate, looking for a takedown. Vlasov pushes Pate against the cage but Pate circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Vlasov has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. Pate misses the jab. Pate moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body. Vlasov pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Vlasov throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Pate's waist but Pate gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Vlasov off to one side. Ahmed Pate has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Oleg Vlasov. Vlasov misses with a head kick.
Vlasov swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Vlasov connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. Pate throws a jab when Vlasov was well out of range. Vlasov pushes Pate up against the cage in a clinch. Vlasov tries to break free but Pate pushes him back against the cage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Vlasov gets control of Pate's arms and successfully pulls guard. Vlasov will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. Vlasov is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. Pate missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Pate throwing strikes from guard but Vlasov blocks nicely. Pate throwing strikes but missing. Pate throwing strikes but missing. Vlasov looking for a sweep. Not yet Vlasov, not yet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Pate content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Pate has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Pate trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Pate throws an elbow that misses. Vlasov uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Pate's guard. Nice move by Vlasov! Pate keeping moving, preventing Vlasov from controlling successfully. Vlasov controlling from the top position. Vlasov throws a big right hand that misses. Pate not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Pate looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Pate working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Vlasov doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Vlasov manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Pate is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Vlasov defends well. Vlasov looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Vlasov has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Pate is proving hard to escape from.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Vlasov shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Pate defends it nicely.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Pate stuffs the takedown attempt from Vlasov. Vlasov gets slowly back to his feet. Vlasov tries for a takedown but Pate sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. A looping hook to the body misses from Vlasov. Pate does a little dance to reset his feet. Pate attempts a counter takedown but Vlasov avoids it well and moves away. Pate digs a good hook to Vlasov's body.
Vlasov uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Pate. Vlasov gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Pate counters with a two punch combo. Vlasov looks winded! Pate darts in looking for a takedown but Vlasov gets double underhooks and turns Pate into the cage. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Vlasov's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Pate connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Vlasov scrambles back to his feet. Pate could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Pate stuffs the takedown attempt from Vlasov. Vlasov gets slowly back to his feet. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Ahmed Pate dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Vlasov throws a predictable looking body shot
letting Pate counter with a right hand. Pate throws a series of punches but Vlasov moves out of range. Pate gets the takedown into side control. Vlasov explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there! Pate tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Vlasov paws at him with a jab and circles away. Vlasov clinches. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Vlasov tries to pull guard but Pate won't allow it.

Pate tries to throw a body punch but Vlasov avoids it by throwing Pate back against the cage. Vlasov is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Pate pulls him back up using the underhooks. Pate has Vlasov pressed against the cage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pate jumps into guard, dragging Vlasov to the mat.
Vlasov trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Pate might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Vlasov stands up and waves to Pate to follow him. Pate shoots in and drives through. Vlasov sprawls well. Pate tries to close the distance and clinch but Vlasov swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Vlasov dives in and grabs Pate's left leg, looking for a takedown. Pate pushes down on Vlasov's head and hops out. An attempted straight right counter from Pate misses the target. Ahmed Pate has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Oleg Vlasov. Vlasov looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Vlasov is breathing heavily. Pate shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Vlasov as he avoids it easily. Vlasov shoots for a takedown but Pate saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Ahmed Pate is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Pate closes this distance looking for a takedown but Vlasov circles away. Vlasov tries to land a front kick but Pate steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed. A counter left hand to the body from Pate misses its target. Pate throws a series of strikes that have Vlasov backpedaling.
Vlasov shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Vlasov is defended easily by Pate. Pate shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Vlasov manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Pate works over Vlasov with some ground and pound from guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Vlasov manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Pate manages to get himself to full guard.

Vlasov is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Pate is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Vlasov is controlling him. Pate is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Vlasov trying to hold on to Pate's head to control him but Pate postures up.

That was a close second round but I would say that Ahmed Pate will probably get the nod. That's time! Pate's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!
No luck for Pate with that takedown attempt. Pate closes this distance looking for a takedown but Vlasov circles away. Pate throws a series of punches but Vlasov moves out of range. Pate stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Pate wants it to stay on the feet. The fight moves into the clinch position. Vlasov creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Vlasov is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.

That's one minute gone in the round. Vlasov jumps guard but Pate stands there with Vlasov around his waist. Vlasov gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Oleg Vlasov has got the better of the ground game so far. Vlasov working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Pate. Vlasov looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Pate has picked Vlasov up and slammed him! Vlasov can't keep hold of the triangle and Pate manages to pass to side control! Vlasov takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Pate working away. Vlasov is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here. Pate in side control, throwing shots but Vlasov defends. Pate working away.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Vlasov takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better. Vlasov defending against the ground and pound. Pate working away. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Pate cracks Vlasov with an elbow. That is naaassty. Pate throws an elbow but Vlasov slips to the side and avoids it well. The strikes coming from Pate are missing the target in this wave of attacks. Pate lands a few punches from side control. Pate in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time. Vlasov managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Pate.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Pate looks for a takedown but Vlasov sprawls well. Vlasov looks like he wanted to counter with a high kick but didn't throw it. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ahmed Pate. That's going to take a lot out of him. Pate shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. As Pate backs off Vlasov throws a huge counter combo but Pate manages to avoid it all. Vlasov scores with the left hand. Pate knows he should have avoided that one. Vlasov shoots in but Pate avoids the takedown attempt easily. Pate looks to land a right hand but Vlasov moved out of range. Vlasov closes the distance and pushes Pate back into the cage. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Vlasov looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Pate jumps guard and drags Vlasov to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
And that's the end of the fight! Ahmed Pate showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Pate, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
