Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Steve Hanson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Keijo Mannerheim (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hanson is coming into this fight with a significant injury, which will no doubt have an effect on his cardio. On his way into the cage it seems that Steve Hanson has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Steve Hanson seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Keijo Mannerheim! The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Johanna Lukiainen and Anni Minnemäki.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mannerheim closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Hanson is breathing heavily. Mannerheim decides to stand back up. Mannerheim steps back and let's Hanson get back to his feet. Mannerheim scores with a head kick.
Mannerheim closes the distance and clinches. Mannerheim tries to break the clinch but Hanson is controlling the position. The pace really dropping off here, momentarily. Mannerheim breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
A right-left combo lands from Mannerheim. Mannerheim shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Mannerheim wants to get up but he can't break Hanson's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. That's three minutes gone in the round. Hanson turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Hanson manages to end up in side control. Mannerheim regains half guard. The fighters are battling for position here. Mannerheim manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Hanson with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Hanson avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Hanson creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Mannerheim sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike. Mannerheim on the wrong end of some ground and pound. Keijo Mannerheim dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Mannerheim fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Hanson, pushing him back against the cage. Mannerheim has clasped his hands together around Hanson's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done. Hanson is trying to get back to half guard. Mannerheim is looking to take a break and control but Hanson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Mannerheim has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. Mannerheim lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook. Mannerheim tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Mannerheim looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Hanson misses with a takedown attempt and Mannerheim counters with a head kick. A slow jab from Mannerheim misses its intended target.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hanson tries for a takedown but Mannerheim circles away easily and Mannerheim decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Hanson's guard. Hanson lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Mannerheim! Mannerheim slips a leg in and gets back to half guard. Mannerheim is trying to stand.

Hanson cracks Mannerheim with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Mannerheim regains half guard. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Hanson connects with a nice short shot to Mannerheim's temple. Hanson lands with a punch from half guard. Hanson with a lazy takedown attempt and Mannerheim counters with a nice low kick that buckles Hanson's knee momentarily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Steve Hanson. That's going to take a lot out of him. Hanson fails with the takedown and Mannerheim counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Hanson has his takedown stuffed and Mannerheim counters with a one-two to the body. Hanson closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Mannerheim with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Hanson is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Mannerheim Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Hanson's back instead. Mannerheim is trying to stick to Hanson's back but Hanson is turning into Mannerheim. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Mannerheim's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Hanson. Hanson chips away with some ground and pound. Mannerheim has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Hanson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Hanson scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Mannerheim is looking to advance position but Hanson won't allow it. The fighters are battling for position here. Hanson manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Hanson looking for a sweep. Not yet Hanson, not yet. Mannerheim works a leg free and moves into half guard. Mannerheim prevents Hanson from improving his position. Mannerheim is pressing down on Hanson's thigh, looking to free his foot. Hanson is holding on for now. Hanson is refusing to be controlled, as Mannerheim sits in half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Mannerheim works his way into side control. Hanson is looking for a sweep.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Mannerheim feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Mannerheim stopping the sweep attempt from Hanson. Mannerheim trying to stand up but can't free himself from Hanson's guard. Hanson throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

And that's the end of the fight! Keijo Mannerheim comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Mannerheim has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today.
