Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jeffrey Meyer! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Thomas Kingston! The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Don Winkell and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kingston has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Meyer. Meyer misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Meyer shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Kingston pinned against the cage. Kingston gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Kingston looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it. Nice takedown defense from Kingston. No joy for Meyer on that attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jeffrey Meyer. That's going to take a lot out of him. Meyer drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Kingston takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Kingston gets back to half guard. Kingston is refusing to be controlled, as Meyer sits in half guard. Kingston keeps control of the position for the meantime.
That's one minute gone in the round. Meyer is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Kingston reverses the position - he's now on top in Meyer's guard. Meyer can't keep his opponent in guard - Kingston advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Kingston controlling the action here. Kingston works his way into side control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Meyer is trying to get back to half guard. Meyer is not in a great position here, taking some shots. Kingston advances to full mount. Meyer takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position. Kingston has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Meyer's face.
Kingston is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Meyer is surviving well by controlling Kingston's body position as best he can. Kingston scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Meyer is breathing heavily. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Meyer tries to get back to half guard but can't.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Kingston scores with a couple of good head shots there.

Kingston tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Kingston putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound! Kingston lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Kingston controlling from mount. BOOM! Kingston connects with a massive shot to the dome!

That's four minutes gone in the round. It looks like Kingston might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it. Kingston raining down hammerfists from mount. Kingston working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Meyer turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Kingston off and cradles Meyer's limp body as Kingston celebrates with his corner.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:39 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). Thomas Kingston!
