Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kid Kamamoto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Doby Burkhardt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Burkhardt comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Not Listenin' - Keak Da Sneak and Bavgate kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Kamamoto has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. Doby Burkhardt acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kid Kamamoto!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Doby Burkhardt!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Shigeki Fujiwara and Shirou Masuda.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice combo by Burkhardt! Oh, that's hurt him - Kamamoto falls to the canvas and Burkhardt follows him into side control.


It looks like Kid Kamamoto has been cut.
Kamamoto is breathing heavily.
Burkhardt tries to stand but Kamamoto is controlling his head.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Burkhardt works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Burkhardt tries to stand but Kamamoto is controlling his head.
Burkhardt is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Kamamoto will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
The strikes coming from Burkhardt are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Kamamoto tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Burkhardt wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Burkhardt lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Kamamoto backs up against the cage.
Burkhardt tries to bum rush Kamamoto with a series of wild strikes but Kamamoto uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Burkhardt closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Kamamoto to the mat! Kamamoto manages to get full guard.

Burkhardt is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Burkhardt tries to free his leg and advance position but Kamamoto is retaining full guard.

Kamamoto on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Kamamoto tries to get out of the position.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Burkhardt fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.

Kamamoto is not content to let Burkhardt control the position.
Kamamoto is trying to improve his position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Burkhardt is looking to take a break and control but Kamamoto is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

and Burkhardt counters with a nice uppercut.
Kamamoto takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kid Kamamoto. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Burkhardt closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Kamamoto gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The cut man is working on Kid Kamamoto's cut.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Burkhardt throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Burkhardt lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Burkhardt.

Some bone on bone action there as Kamamoto checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

and Burkhardt counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Kamamoto's guard now.

Burkhardt really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kamamoto. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Kamamoto looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Burkhardt is looking to improve his position but Kamamoto isn't that keen on the idea.
Burkhardt is in a horrible position here. Kamamoto smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Kamamoto is going olschool here, as he tries to force Burkhardt to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Burkhardt shrugs it off.

Burkhardt tries to lock up and control but Kamamoto gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Kamamoto breaks from Burkhardt's wrist control and lands an elbow.
The referee warns Burkhardt that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Kamamoto has control of Burkhardt's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Burkhardt regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Burkhardt tries to hold on but Kamamoto pushes him away.
Burkhardt is trying desperately to improve position.
Burkhardt is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Kamamoto looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Kamamoto prevents Burkhardt from getting the reversal.

BOOM! Kamamoto connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Burkhardt tries to lock up and control but Kamamoto gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Kamamoto postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Burkhardt looks a forlorn figure.

Burkhardt is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Kamamoto is landing with some decent strikes but Burkhardt is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Doby Burkhardt showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Burkhardt lands a body shot.
Burkhardt stalks Kamamoto and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Kamamoto's face. Kamamoto staggers backwards, shaken.
Kamamoto takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Burkhardt jabs at Kamamoto's body.
Kamamoto is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Burkhardt.
Burkhardt cracks Kamamoto with an open hand slap.

Burkhardt shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Kamamoto's guard.
Burkhardt must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Kamamoto looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Burkhardt wants to control from the top but Kamamoto keeps moving.
Burkhardt postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Burkhardt stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kamamoto swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Kamamoto has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Burkhardt can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Kamamoto is looking for a triangle but Burkhardt pushes his legs off easily.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Burkhardt's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Burkhardt scoring with punches to the head and body.
Burkhardt has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Kamamoto is proving hard to escape from.
Burkhardt wants to control from the top but Kamamoto keeps moving.

Kamamoto has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Burkhardt should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Kamamoto has tightened it up now! Burkhardt should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
