Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Pan Kovalskii! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Karl Vinson! The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Chris Downing and George Francis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Vinson misses with an uppercut. Vinson moves to clinch but Kovalskii breaks away and Kovalskii counters with a single leg into guard. Vinson didn't expect that. Kovalskii thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Kovalskii slips nicely into half guard. Kovalskii is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Vinson sees it coming and defends easily. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Kovalskii seems to be looking for submissions.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Vinson is trying to get back to full guard. Kovalskii is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
