Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Bart Olson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Cory Foster! The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Ryoma Takatsuka and Chris Saunders.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Foster stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Foster wants it to stay on the feet. Olson looks for a takedown but Foster sprawls well. Foster shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Olson is staying active underneath Foster, who seems content to just control the action from this position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Olson wants to control but Foster is keeping busy.
Foster stands up from half guard. Olson throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Foster's waist but Foster gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Olson off to one side. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bart Olson. That's going to take a lot out of him.
That's one minute gone in the round. Some wild striking there from Foster.
Olson shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Olson stopping the sweep attempt from Foster. Olson gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Foster swings for the body but Olson moves out of range.
Foster throws a body shot but no joy. Foster misses with a combination
and Olson moves into the clinch. Foster jumps guard and drags Olson to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Olson gets to his feet. Foster looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Foster scores with a takedown into Olson's guard. Olson is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Foster dives into side control.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Foster works to advance to full mount. Olson defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs. The referee warns Olson that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Foster controlling his opponent. Olson slips a leg in and gets back to half guard. Foster is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Olson defends it well. Well, if Foster is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Foster uses his free foot to push down on Olson's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Olson. Foster controlling the position easily from mount.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Foster working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet. Foster controlling the pace for now. Foster wants to control the action but instead Olson gets a body lock and reverses into Foster's guard! Nice work! Olson in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Olson has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Olson decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Foster throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Foster scores with a jab to the body. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Cory Foster dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Olson looks for a takedown but Foster sprawls well. Foster scores with a nice strike.
Olson is rocked! Foster is throwing punches like he's double parked. Oh my word! Huge right hand from Foster shuts the power down on Olson. Lights out, game over! Foster is your winner.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:30 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Cory Foster!
