Coming up we have a middleweight Tycoon World Grappling Championship rules bout between Toktogulovich Bakiyev and John Kyle Romo. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Romo moves into range and clinches up with Bakiyev. Bakiyev successfully pulls guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Bakiyev content to stall in guard here. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. This is a sustained period of stalling by Bakiyev. Bakiyev works his way to his opponent's back.
Score +3 for taking back: Bakiyev (8) vs (0) Romo Romo is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get Bakiyev off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted.
That's twelve minutes gone in the round. Bakiyev trying to secure his dominant position for a moment - making sure Romo doesn't escape. Romo just trying to survive but Bakiyev is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish. Bakiyev has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Romo's body.

Bakiyev controls the action. Romo trying to control the hands but Bakiyev breaks the grip. Bakiyev really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Romo.
That's fourteen minutes gone in the round. You can see the frustration on Romo's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Bakiyev biding his time, controlling Romo. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! I really don't envy Romo right now.
Romo is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Bakiyev.
And that's the end of the fight! Bakiyev takes the fight on points by 8 to 0. After winning the bout, Toktogulovich Bakiyev thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility. |
