Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Hugo Chavez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kendall Alves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kendall Alves has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Hugo Chavez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kendall Alves!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alves stuffs the takedown.

Chavez feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Chavez feints and as Alves raises his hands in defense, Chavez changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

Alves is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Chavez is really trying hard to get back to his feet.
Alves wants to control the action but instead Chavez gets a body lock and reverses into Alves's guard! Nice work!

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Chavez accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Alves closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Chavez might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Chavez is going olschool here, as he tries to force Alves to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Alves shrugs it off.

Chavez takes Alves's back. Could be looking for a rear naked choke here - either way, Alves is in trouble.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Chavez, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
