PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Pedro Perrone (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kawaki Inoshita (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Perrone comes into the arena with Eye Of The Tiger blaring out of the sound system. Kawaki Inoshita struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 157.9lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. Kawaki Inoshita acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Inoshita shoots in and drives through. Perrone sprawls well.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Inoshita.
Perrone throws a body shot but no joy.

Pedro Perrone has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kawaki Inoshita.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Perrone throws his legs up looking for a submission but Inoshita uses it to pass to side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Perrone tries to control but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Inoshita working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.
It looks like Inoshita might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Let's hope that Inoshita has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Perrone tries to reverse the position but Inoshita maintains control.

That was a close round but I would say that Pedro Perrone will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Perrone tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Inoshita paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Inoshita manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Perrone on his heels. He'll look to pass Perrone's guard now, I'm sure.
Inoshita is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Inoshita is continuing to stall.
Perrone is looking for a sweep. Inoshita is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Perrone is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Inoshita's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Inoshita's back!

Even with his hooks in, Perrone manages to miss with strikes from the back.
Perrone is not going to allow Inoshita to sit and survive in this position.

Kawaki Inoshita comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Perrone has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
