Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ross Thompson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Randy Vega (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vega misses with a combination
and Thompson counters with a stiff right hand.

Vega closes the distance and clinches.
Vega is trying to break free.
Thompson really is a fat lump.

Thompson has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Vega is trying to keep an underhook but Thompson manages to get the takedown into half guard.
Vega really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Thompson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.

Vega tries to kick Thompson off but Thompson keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Thompson lands a nice short elbow.
Thompson throwing shots but Vega is blocking nicely.
Vega is trying to stand up here but Thompson is controlling him well.
Vega pushes Thompson off but Thompson dives into side control.

Vega is trying to improve his position.

Thompson looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Vega parries the strikes from Thompson easily there. Thompson is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Vega to escape.
Thompson misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Vega is looking for a sweep.
Thompson in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.

Vega sneaks out the side door and pushes Thompson away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.
Thompson gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Vega.

Ross Thompson's cut is getting worse.
Vega will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Thompson needs to keep his hands up - Vega had a free shot at his head there.
Vega scores with a three punch combo!
Nice sprawl there from Vega as Thompson shoots in.
Thompson takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

Ross Thompson's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
Thompson shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Vega as he jumps to the side.
Thompson swats away the attempt to clinch by Vega.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

and Vega comes in over the top with a devastating right hand! Thompson stumbles back against the cage, looking to regain his senses but Vega is on him like rabid pit bull! Thompson slumps to the ground under a storm of punches and this fight is over!

Randy Vega decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
