Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Joshua Spears (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Guguinha cansei (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters really staring eachother down here, as Guguinha cansei enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Joshua Spears!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Guguinha cansei!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Robert Twigg and Wesley Smith.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
cansei throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
cansei stuffs the takedown attempt from Spears. Spears gets slowly back to his feet.
Spears shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says cansei as he avoids it easily.
Spears bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
cansei throws a nice looking combination but Spears bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Spears scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Spears wants to control but cansei is keeping him busy.

Spears is trying to work for a kimura but cansei is defending well.
cansei looks gassed!
Spears is taking a breather. cansei says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Spears lands with a punch from half guard.
Spears looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
cansei is refusing to be controlled, as Spears sits in half guard.

cansei wants to improve his position but Spears is controlling well.

Spears decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
Guguinha cansei seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
cansei throws a lazy right hand but Spears sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
cansei will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Spears looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

cansei swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Spears counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in cansei's guard now.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Spears distracts cansei with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

The fight stays on the outside here - Spears looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Spears tries to close the distance and clinch up but cansei swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Spears shoots in and bounces cansei off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Spears has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

cansei throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
cansei wants to clinch but Spears slips to the side

and Spears counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for cansei!
cansei is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
Spears is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. cansei can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Spears breaks from cansei's wrist control and lands an elbow.

and Spears counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. cansei is lucky that one didn't land flush.

Spears jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as cansei walks away with a smile on his face. Spears gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Spears drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
cansei is looking for a sweep.
Spears scores with a couple of short elbows.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
cansei tries to contro but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad.
Spears looking to control and managing it successfully.

A nice elbow there by Spears.
Spears fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Spears lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Spears landing strikes from the mount and cansei is in trouble!
Spears postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. cansei looks a forlorn figure.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

cansei really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Spears. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
cansei slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
cansei pushes Spears off looking to stand but Spears dives back in and keeps control.

cansei swats away the attempt to clinch by Spears.

Spears fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with cansei, pushing him back against the cage.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Spears wants to break the clinch but can't.

cansei escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Spears gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Spears is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Spears kicks cansei off and gets to his feet.
Spears throws a right and a left that both miss.

Spears fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Spears tries to close the distance and clinch up but cansei swats him away and circles back towards the center.
cansei misses with a few strikes there.
A chopping leg kick lands by cansei.
Spears tries to clinch up but cansei circles away and keeps his distance.
Spears shoots in looking for a takedown. cansei tries to sprawl out of it but Spears keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. cansei manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
cansei throws a one two combo.

Spears feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
cansei thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

Spears shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says cansei as he avoids it easily.

cansei rushes Spears and presses him up against the cage.

cansei goes for a takedown attempt but Spears pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
cansei throws a combination that misses

and Spears counters with a nice double leg into side control. cansei won't be happy with that.

cansei is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
cansei is not content to let Spears control the position.
cansei manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Spears works his way into full mount!
cansei squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.

And that's the end of the fight!

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Spears, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
