6 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Alexei Mikhailov! The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Johanna Lukiainen and Roosa Järviläinen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mikhailov misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Francisco.
Francisco is looking to counter with a shot to the body. Mikhailov just misses with a punch to the body.
Francisco looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Mikhailov fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Francisco manages to avoid it. Francisco throws a body punch but Mikhailov moves out of range. Francisco jabs Mikhailov to the body, keeping him at a distance. Francisco avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Francisco throws a strike but Mikhailov avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mikhailov controlling the position. Francisco got a little sloppy there for a moment and Mikhailov has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Francisco has managed to get both his arms back between Mikhailov's legs - danger averted. Mikhailov bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Francisco's guard. Francisco is pulling down on Mikhailov's head. It's preventing any offense from Mikhailov, at least for the moment. Mikhailov content to stall in guard here. Mikhailov won't allow Francisco to sweep him here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Francisco keeping full guard, as Mikhailov tries to pass. Francisco tries to land a sweep but no joy. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Mikhailov wants to control from the top but Francisco keeps moving. Francisco bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Mikhailov's guard. Francisco throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Mikhailov keeping moving, preventing Francisco from controlling successfully. Mikhailov looking to control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Francisco controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Francisco distracts Mikhailov with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Francisco looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Francisco trying to control but Mikhailov is working from the bottom. Mikhailov manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Francisco manages to get himself to full guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Mikhailov trying to control the position from guard on top but Francisco is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Francisco is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Francisco wants to sweep here but Mikhailov controlling him for the moment. Francisco is working hard here to advance position. Mikhailov trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Mikhailov trying to control but Francisco is working from the bottom. In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Mikhailov working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though. Mikhailov postures up in Francisco's guard and throws a big left but Francisco blocks it. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Kapua Francisco dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Mikhailov shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Francisco sprawls well. Francisco wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Mikhailov gets slowly back to his feet. Mikhailov takes a swing at Francisco's ribcage but misses. Mikhailov throws a body shot but no joy. Mikhailov connects with a body shot that sends Francisco's belly button to the back. Francisco leaves Mikhailov with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Mikhailov shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Mikhailov sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Francisco's guard. Francisco is looking for a sweep. Mikhailov is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Francisco on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Francisco tries to get out of the position. Mikhailov is thwarting Francisco's attempts to control the position. Mikhailov controlling the action here. Francisco actively working from the bottom here. Mikhailov is looking to advance position but Francisco won't allow it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mikhailov maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Francisco could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Mikhailov has cracked it and Francisco is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Mikhailov!
