Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Guillermo Flores! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Loyd Kingston! The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Roger Salmon and Paul Gruel.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kingston fails with the takedown and Flores counters with a stiff right hand. Flores has managed to clinch.
Flores is trying to drag Kingston to the mat but Kingston just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Flores tries to pull guard but Kingston holds him up against the cage and eventually Flores drops back down to his feet.
Flores tries to break free but Kingston pushes him back against the cage. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Kingston goes for a takedown in the clinch but Flores prevents it.
Flores is trying to force a seperation but Kingston has the dominant position. Flores wants to break the clinch but can't.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kingston keeps control of Flores as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Flores has had enough of the clinch but Kingston keeps him there for the moment. Kingston wants a takedown.
Guillermo Flores has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Loyd Kingston. Kingston gets a trip takedown into half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Flores is looking to improve his position.

Flores really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. The ground and pound from Kingston seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent. Flores wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done! Flores struggling a bit here. Kingston prevents Flores from escaping the position. Kingston postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Flores pushes Kingston away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Kingston gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. Flores throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done! Kingston shoots in but no luck this time. Flores is looking to counter with a body kick. Kingston slaps away a takedown attempt from Flores, before circling back to the center of the mat. Kingston feints the counter takedown. Kingston fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Flores sprawls well initially but Kingston persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Flores is looking to get back to is feet but Kingston passes into side control.
Flores is breathing heavily. Flores wants to get back to his feet. Flores manages to get back to half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Flores tries to get to full guard but Kingston has control of the leg. Flores pushes Kingston off but Kingston dives into side control.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Flores wants to control but Kingston postures up. Kingston scores with punches from side control. Kingston is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position. Kingston misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Flores wants to control but Kingston postures up. Flores wants to get back to his feet. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Kingston makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Kingston accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Flores is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Flores has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Kingston has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage. Kingston can't get the takedown.

Kingston looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard. Flores postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. He's tossed Flores clear over his head and slammed him to the mat! Flores trying to control but not successfully. Flores manages to reverse the position and now he's in Kingston's guard. Nice work there by Flores.

Kingston is continuing to stall. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Kingston can do anything to dispel that myth. Kingston takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
That's one minute gone in the round. Flores is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Kingston is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Kingston has escaped and now he's on top! Kingston stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Flores swivels though and keeps the full guard. Flores wants to get back to his feet but Kingston is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Kingston must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Flores is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

Kingston pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Flores tumbling to the mat - Kingston dives into Flores's guard. Kingston throwing strikes but missing.
