Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, DJ Augie! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
13 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Leandro Silva! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Don Winkell and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Augie cracks Silva with an open hand slap. Augie throws a big shot that misses. Augie lands a lovely overhand right. Augie connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. Augie lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Silva ducks under a wild hook from Augie. Silva needs to keep his hands up - Augie had a free shot at his head there. Augie is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Silva's half guard. This has been an exciting period of action! Augie working Silva over with strikes. Augie controlling the action here. Augie not landing any meaningful shots this time. Augie has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Silva is trying to get back to full guard. Augie working Silva over with strikes.
That's one minute gone in the round. Still in half guard, Augie seems content to control. Augie landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Augie throwing shots but Silva is blocking nicely. Augie looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Silva with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Augie lands a nice short elbow. Silva keeps control of the position for the meantime. Augie throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Augie has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. Augie takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Silva wants to get back to his feet.
Augie is taking a breather. Silva says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Silva looks like he's trying to stand up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Augie wants to work for an arm triangle but Silva is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Silva is trying to stand up here but Augie is controlling him well. Augie with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. Augie seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Augie stops Silva from getting back to his feet.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Augie connects with a nice short shot to Silva's temple. Silva is trying to get back to full guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Silva is looking to escape. Augie content to control rather than advance. Augie working the head and body with strikes. Well, if Augie is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Augie working over Silva with some ground and pound. Silva looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Augie looks to score some points with some ground and pound. Augie controlling the action here. Augie seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Silva for as long as he can get away with. Silva wants to get back to his feet. Augie winds up and cracks Silva with a swinging punch to the side of the head. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Silva ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Augie moves away. Silva keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Augie. A cross from Augie lands. Augie closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Silva wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done! Augie in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Silva is tapping! That's the end of the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:41 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). DJ Augie! An out of breath DJ Augie thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
