Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Doctor Strange !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Barry Jones!
The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Steve Montenegro and Lou da Vinci.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Strange to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Jones being controlled here, momentarily.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Jones can do anything to dispel that myth.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Strange wants to pass the guard but Jones is keeping the position.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Jones is trying to control the position but Strange postures up.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Jones holds on and takes a little breather.
Jones can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Strange controls the pace.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Jones is controlling Strange 's posture.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Donk. Jones catches Strange right on the button with a cross.
It looks like Doctor Strange has been cut.
Strange shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Jones as he jumps to the side.
Strange shoots for a double leg takedown but Jones sprawls well. He's pushed Strange 's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Strange shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Strange shoots in for a takedown but Jones shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Doctor Strange . That's going to take a lot out of him.
Jones lands a big right hand that sends Strange crashing to the mat! Jones stays standing though and waves Strange back to his feet!
Strange is rocked!
Jones fires a straight punch through the middle that cracks Strange square on the jaw! Damn, Strange is out cold on his feet and topples face first to the canvas! Wow, I haven't seen a knockout that brutal in a long time!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:44 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Barry Jones!
During a confident post fight interview, Barry Jones thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
