Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ronald Reagan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lucas Campos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lucas Campos struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 172.4lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. 15 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ronald Reagan! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Lucas Campos! The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Leandro Rodrigues and Edson Gomes.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Reagan on the wrong end of a nice hook. Reagan scores with a jab to the head.
Reagan moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot. Reagan is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Campos. Campos swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made. Reagan is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot. Reagan definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Reagan misses with a jab, cross combination.
No joy there for Reagan, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Campos fails with a takedown attempt. It looked like Reagan was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Campos. Reagan throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
A big right from Reagan misses. Reagan connects with a body shot that sends Campos's belly button to the back. Campos is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Reagan. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Reagan lands a nice shot to the body.
Campos walks into a jab. Reagan moves out of range of the leg kick from Campos. Reagan scores with a body shot.
Campos throws a sloppy head kick and Reagan moves out of range easily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Campos drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles. Campos throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Reagan sees it coming and avoids it easily. Reagan throws a series of punches but Campos moves out of range. Ronald Reagan is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Reagan comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. Campos throws a sloppy head kick and Reagan moves out of range easily. Good shot there by Reagan. Campos tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Campos looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple. Reagan lands a body shot.
Campos looks winded! Reagan misses with a body shot.
Campos misses with a looping right. Campos throws a head kick that misses. Campos shoots in for a double leg but Reagan sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Campos fails with an attempt to clinch.
Reagan fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Reagan sizes up Campos with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Reagan ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Reagan wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. Reagan throws a good cross that connects.
Campos has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Reagan finds it's way round the side to connect with Campos's head. Reagan lands with a hook. Campos tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head. Reagan scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. Reagan stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Reagan wants it to stay on the feet. Ronald Reagan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Lucas Campos. Campos is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Reagan lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent. Reagan catches Campos with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! Good exchange - Reagan coming out on top. Reagan jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
Reagan thuds a left hand into Campos's body. Reagan ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Campos on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere. Campos takes a jab right on the kisser.
Reagan keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Reagan lands a slapping body shot.
Reagan scores with a nice head shot. Reagan swings for the body but Campos moves out of range.
Reagan lands a left and a right that send Campos crashing to the mat, dazed. Reagan thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
Campos is rocked!
It looks like Lucas Campos has been cut. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Reagan with a body punch. A glancing blow. Campos is still on wobbly legs! Can Reagan finish him? Reagan throws an overhand right from the outside, which connects and sends Campos stumbling backwards into the cage! Campos bounces back off the cage towards Reagan, who cracks him with a two punch combination that drops him to his knees! Reagan lands two more shots before the referee has chance to intervene - what a finish! Reagan celebrates with his corner as the crowd cheer loudly.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:35 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Ronald Reagan!
