Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Joey Morris!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tank Johnson!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Chris Downing and Alan Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johnson lets loose with a powerful body kick. Morris will feel that in the morning.
Morris tries to score a power double leg takedown but Johnson sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Morris somewhat.
Johnson forces Morris back against the cage and clinches.
Johnson escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Johnson lands a big head kick that sends Morris tumbling to the mat! Johnson takes a step backwards and waves Morris back to his feet - he wants the finish!
It looks like Joey Morris has been cut.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Johnson closes the distance and pushes Morris back into the cage.
Johnson lands a shoulder strike.
Johnson successfully pulls guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Johnson is on top in guard.
Morris is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Johnson controlling from the top position.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Johnson decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Johnson bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Morris's head backwards.
Morris is rocked!
Johnson batters Morris with a massive right followed by a huge left! Morris is out on his feet looking like a zombie as Johnson lands a final crushing right hand to drop Morris to the mat with a gruesome thud! Johnson is running around like a mad man after that fight and for good reason!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:35 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Tank Johnson!
