Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Winford Odom! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, George Cousins! The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Steve Smith and Trevor Gratis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cousins is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Odom's half guard. Odom pushes Cousins off and gets back to his feet. Cousins has managed to clinch.
Odom throws a head punch that misses. Odom slows down the pace here.
Cousins working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely. Cousins manages to break the clinch.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Cousins clinches. Cousins lands a nice elbow from the clinch. Cousins avoids the elbow strike from Odom, against the cage.
Cousins turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control! Odom really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Odom is not content to let Cousins control the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cousins wants to stand but Odom has his arm trapped. Cousins wants to control but Odom is keeping him busy. Odom regains half guard there - taking advantage of Cousins's attempt to lay and pray for a moment. Cousins is just content to waste time from the top position. Odom takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Odom keeping moving, preventing Cousins from controlling successfully. Cousins wants to get up but he can't break Odom's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Cousins looking to sit in guard and control but Odom gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Cousins has a closed guard, preventing Odom from standing up. Cousins not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Odom decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Cousins, up you get! Cousins closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Odom quickly recovers to half guard. Cousins is looking for a kimura here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Cousins is looking to take a break and control but Odom is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Cousins is stalling here. Odom is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Cousins seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Odom has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Odom tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Odom has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Odom cracks Cousins with a big right hand but Cousins just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Odom tries for a kimura but Cousins is defending well. Cousins on the wrong end of some ground and pound. Cousins trying to control but Odom flips him over like a cheap hooker and has his back! Odom looking for the choke but no joy. You can see the frustration on Cousins's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Odom will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Cousins is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet. Cousins trying to control the action but Odom just sinks the hooks in. Cousins wants to escape the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Winford Odom dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Cousins looking to score a takedown here. Odom is defending well but Cousins drives through and ends up in Odom's guard. Cousins has gone for a leg lock! Odom slips out almost immediately though and dives into Cousins's guard. Cousins is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Odom distracts Cousins with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Cousins looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Odom is looking to work some ground and pound but Cousins has wrist control. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Odom chips away with some ground and pound. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Odom postures up.
Odom keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Cousins's head.
That's one minute gone in the round. Odom postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Cousins trying to control the position.
Cousins is pulling down on Odom's head to control his posture. Odom postures up and lands a big shot to Cousins's brow. Cousins looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Odom passes into half guard.
Odom gets to his feet - back to striking we go! Cousins decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Odom wants to get back to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Odom is not content to let Cousins control the position. Odom is looking to escape. Cousins trying to control from half guard but Odom is working away. Odom kicks off Cousins and gets to his feet. Cousins shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Odom's guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Cousins looking to sit in guard and control but Odom gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Odom missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Cousins wants to stand but Odom is controlling the position. Cousins trying to keep a closed guard but Odom is proving a slippery customer.
Odom wants to stand but Cousins has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Cousins working a defensive guard but Odom passes into half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Nice strikes from Odom there. Cousins actively working from the bottom here. Cousins is trying to get back to full guard. Cousins connecting with a few gentle strikes. Cousins tries to roll over but Odom keeps him under control. Odom wants to stand up but Cousins has a hold of him and won't allow it. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Odom connects with a nice short shot to Cousins's temple. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's one minute gone in the round. Odom won't allow Cousins to get back to his feet. Odom wanted to stand there but Cousins had control of the position. Odom with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Odom's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Odom is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Cousins has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Odom can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Cousins has his hands on Odom's head, controlling the position. Winford Odom overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Odom wants to stand and escape but instead Cousins has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cousins won't allow Odom to get back to his feet. Cousins is fighting to break Odom's control of his arms but Odom is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. Cousins must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Cousins makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Odom keeping moving, preventing Cousins from controlling successfully. Cousins gets to his feet. Odom looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! Cousins closes the distance and pushes Odom back into the cage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Cousins turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control! Odom explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there! Cousins lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Cousins. Cousins feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Odom pushes Cousins off and gets back to his feet.
Odom is rocked! Winford Odom is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Cousins takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. This has been an exciting period of action! Oh Odom is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Cousins lands with a big right hook that stumbles Odom - he's out on his feet here! Cousins follows up with another monster hook that separates Odom from consciousness! Odom falls, almost in slow motion to the canvas! Cousins stands and admires his work as the crowd go wild.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:43 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). George Cousins! After the fight, George Cousins was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
