Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tommy Ebbitt! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Lewis Pheonix! The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Stewart Dunkirk and Chris Downing.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ebbitt throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Pheonix's head.
It looks like Lewis Pheonix has been cut. Pheonix fails in his attempt to clinch. Ebbitt looks to score with a jab to the body but Pheonix is just out of range. Ebbitt shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Pheonix's guard. Ebbitt is breathing heavily. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Pheonix holds on and takes a little breather. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Ebbitt trying to control but Pheonix is working from the bottom. Ebbitt preventing the sweep. Ebbitt has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Pheonix is pulling down on Ebbitt's head. It's preventing any offense from Ebbitt, at least for the moment.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pheonix bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Ebbitt's guard. Pheonix missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Pheonix is looking to work some ground and pound but Ebbitt has wrist control. Ebbitt preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Pheonix scoring with some ground and pound. Pheonix is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Pheonix advances position into side control! Pheonix has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Ebbitt is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Pheonix yanks on the arm and Ebbitt is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Pheonix.
