Sousa has chosen "Ratamahatta" By Sepultura as his entrance music. Davi Sousa looks lathargic as he enters the arena. Wake up son, you're about to have a fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Davi Sousa!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Alexandre Firmino and Matheus Silva.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sousa stuffs the takedown.
Horrible takedown attempt by Johnson or perhaps it was just good defense by Sousa, which made it look bad.

Sousa is trying to push Johnson away but Johnson has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Johnson clinches up with Sousa and pushes him back against the cage.
Johnson is looking to take this one to the mat.
Sousa drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Johnson gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Johnson misses with a shot to the kidneys.

Johnson pulls guard.

Johnson is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Johnson pulls Sousa in to control the position.

Sousa stands and steps away. Johnson gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Johnson shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Sousa as he jumps to the side.
Johnson rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Sousa moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Johnson shoots in for a takedown but Sousa shows good takedown defense.
Sousa has worked on his takedown defense in the runup to this fight and it is paying off so far.
Johnson looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Sousa is fending him off so far but Johnson persists. Nope, Sousa circles away and we're back to standing.

Sousa forces Johnson back against the cage and clinches.

Sousa breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Johnson shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Sousa sprawls well. Sousa wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Johnson gets slowly back to his feet.
Sousa shapes to counter with a head kick.
Sousa should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Johnson clinches up against the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Aaron Johnson will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Johnson shoots for a takedown but Sousa saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Sousa leaves Johnson with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Sousa keeps the fight on the outside.
Sousa throws a big counter head kick but Johnson avoids it with no problem.
Sousa displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Johnson.

Sousa goes for a double leg but Johnson avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Johnson continues to drive forward.

Sousa is looking to take a break and control but Johnson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Johnson is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Sousa is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Johnson really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Johnson throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Sousa's waist but Sousa gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Johnson off to one side.
Sousa shapes to counter with a head kick.

Johnson fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Sousa, pushing him back against the cage.
Sousa is trying to pull guard but Johnson turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

Johnson tightens his grip and picks Sousa up, before dumping him to the ground. Sousa manages to land in guard.

Sousa has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Johnson off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Johnson gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Johnson is pushing Sousa up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
