Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Chris Edwards and James Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Wayne Smith!
It looks like Jeffery Sawyer has been cut.
Wayne Smith shoots in for a takedown but Sawyer shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Wayne Smith lands a head shot.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Wayne Smith.
Wayne Smith has closed the distance and engaged Sawyer in a clinch.
Sawyer wants a takedown but no success here.
Wayne Smith breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Sawyer throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Wayne Smith's waist but Wayne Smith gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Sawyer off to one side.
Sawyer shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Wayne Smith but Wayne Smith pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Wayne Smith lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jeffery Sawyer. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Wayne Smith moves into range and clinches up with Sawyer.
Sawyer tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Wayne Smith just stands there and leans against the cage.

Sawyer gets underhooks to prevent Wayne Smith's takedown attempt.
Wayne Smith has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Sawyer uses from the top position.
Wayne Smith looking to hit a scissor sweep but Sawyer is one step ahead there.
Sawyer controls from within his opponent's guard.
Sawyer's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Wayne Smith tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Wayne Smith keeping moving, preventing Sawyer from controlling successfully.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Sawyer postures up.
Wayne Smith is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Sawyer stays in close to Wayne Smith's body and controls the position.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Sawyer dives in for a single leg takedown but Wayne Smith sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Wayne Smith jabs at Sawyer's body.
Sawyer could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Wayne Smith moves into the clinch.
Sawyer tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Wayne Smith smiles and moves away.
Sawyer is breathing heavily.
Ohhhhh! A huge head kick from Wayne Smith! Sawyer is out on his feet! Wayne Smith rushes in and throws more strikes. The ref is looking closely - Sawyer is covering up but the punishment is just too much and the ref steps in to stop the fight! Sawyer is staring into space, just thankful that the beatdown has ended. Brutal finish.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:52 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jayson Wayne Smith!
