Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Gary McGuinness (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ken DeWhitt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gary McGuinness could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Ken DeWhitt's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Gary McGuinness!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ken DeWhitt!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Alec Ball and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
DeWhitt moves out of range as McGuinness strikes.
DeWhitt shoots for a double leg takedown but McGuinness sprawls well. He's pushed DeWhitt's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

McGuinness gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
McGuinness is trying to drag DeWhitt to the mat but DeWhitt just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

McGuinness breaks the clinch.
DeWhitt fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

McGuinness closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
McGuinness is looking to advance position but DeWhitt won't allow it.
The fighters are battling for position here. DeWhitt manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
DeWhitt controls McGuinness momentarily but McGuinness frees himself.

DeWhitt pushes McGuinness off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

McGuinness shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. McGuinness showed some decent athleticism there.

McGuinness can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as DeWhitt is looking to escape.
McGuinness sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
DeWhitt is trying to escape the mount but McGuinness keeps good control and instead manages to take DeWhitt's back.
DeWhitt tries to escape but McGuinness has the hooks in and won't let him break free.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
McGuinness misses with an elbow to the head.

McGuinness is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. DeWhitt defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.
McGuinness has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of DeWhitt's body.

DeWhitt wants to stand but McGuinness is controlling his posture from full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
DeWhitt won't allow McGuinness to sweep him here.

McGuinness had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. DeWhitt is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. McGuinness Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take DeWhitt's back instead.
McGuinness is riding his opponent, not letting DeWhitt buck him off.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
DeWhitt tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
McGuinness controlling the pace for now.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

McGuinness drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and McGuinness jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as McGuinness accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
McGuinness is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

McGuinness drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but DeWhitt manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now McGuinness has DeWhitt in his guard.
