Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Teddy Salazar! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, John Hayles! The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Topper Green and Steve Erwin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A shot to the body from Hayles misses and Salazar counters with a left to the body. Hayles tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Salazar swivels and escapes. Hayles tries to land a body kick and Salazar counters with a takedown into side control. Hayles is trying to control Salazar's posture but Salazar avoids it. Salazar throwing strikes but missing, from side control. Hayles taking a bit of punishment here - Salazar scoring with strikes. Salazar really is a fat lump. Salazar in side control, throwing shots but Hayles defends. Hayles is trying to improve his position. Salazar lands an elbow.
That's one minute gone in the round. Salazar tries to land with some ground and pound but misses. Salazar misses with the ground and pound. Hayles on the wrong end of some ground and pound. Hayles tries to buck Salazar off but Salazar is having none of it. Salazar scoring with punches from side control. Salazar throwing shots but missing, from side control. Salazar working the ground and pound. Hayles is trying to control Salazar's posture but Salazar avoids it. Salazar decides to stand back up. Salazar steps back and let's Hayles get back to his feet. Hayles misses with a takedown attempt and Salazar holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Salazar has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Hayles is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Hayles goes for a takedown attempt but Salazar pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Teddy Salazar has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Hayles. Hayles drives through and clinches with Salazar against the cage.
Hayles unloads a knee to the mid-section. Hayles taking a break, stalling in the clinch.
Salazar is pushing Hayles up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word. Hayles looking for a takedown. Hayles working hard to break the clinch.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hayles is trying to pull guard but Salazar has him pressed against the cage. Hayles looks winded! Salazar drags the fight down to the ground.
Salazar has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Salazar is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Salazar wants to sweep here but Hayles controlling him for the moment. Salazar is working hard here to advance position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Salazar lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard. Hayles trying to control the position.
Hayles looking for a sweep. Not yet Hayles, not yet. Hayles lands a couple of decent looking body shots there.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Salazar in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Salazar chips away with some ground and pound. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Teddy Salazar dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Hayles misses with a takedown attempt and Salazar counters with a nice uppercut. Hayles darts in and clinches Salazar up against the cage. Salazar is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Hayles can do to turn this around? Salazar escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Hayles gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Salazar counters by clinching up. Salazar displaying some good clinch control by pressing Hayles up against the cage. Salazar tries to land a knee to the head but Hayles blocks with his arms.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Salazar is trying to force a seperation but Hayles has the dominant position. Salazar throws a knee to the head but misses.
Salazar trying to control the position but instead, Hayles has worked for underhooks and has pushed Salazar into the cage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hayles breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Hayles shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Salazar pinned against the cage. Salazar gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Teddy Salazar has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Hayles. Hayles clinches. The referee is keeping an eye on Salazar - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Salazar is trying to force a seperation but Hayles has the dominant position. Salazar manages to break the clinch.
Hayles defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Salazar. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Hayles is defended easily by Salazar. Salazar gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Hayles to score an easy takedown into full guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Salazar keeping full guard, as Hayles tries to pass. Teddy Salazar overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Hayles trying to control the position from guard on top but Salazar is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Salazar is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. Salazar looking to hit a scissor sweep but Hayles is one step ahead there. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Hayles wanted to stand there but Salazar had control of the position. Salazar keeping moving, preventing Hayles from controlling successfully. Salazar not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. John Hayles seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Hayles looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Hayles is breathing heavily. Hayles rushes Salazar and presses him up against the cage. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Hayles is trying to break the clinch but Salazar has him pressed against the cage. Salazar holding his opponent close, against the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Teddy Salazar will probably get the nod. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Hayles throws a half hearted mid kick. It appears Salazar was looking to counter with a kick there. Hayles is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Salazar's half guard. The fighters are battling for position here. Salazar manages to regain full guard. Nice work. The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. John Hayles is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Hayles throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Salazar tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Hayles is in Salazar's guard. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Hayles showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Hayles pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Salazar is keeping the position for now.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Salazar is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Hayles rolls with it to try and escape but Salazar cranks on the arm and Hayles is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
