0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Marcus Lima! The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Anni Minnemäki and Roosa Järviläinen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Wood gets caught flat footed, as Lima shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Wood wants to get back to his feet but Lima is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Lima showing good wrestling skills to control the position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Lima is stalling in the full guard. Lima is looking to work some ground and pound but Wood has wrist control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lima controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Lima with a flurry of punches that miss.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. A solid leg kick lands there for Wood.
Wood tries to clinch up but Lima circles away and keeps his distance. Wood lands with a kick to the ribs.
Lima's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Wood connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Lima scrambles back to his feet.
It looks like Marcus Lima has been cut. Lima bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Wood bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet! The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Wood scores with a kick to the body.
Maddox Wood is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Wood lands a glancing blow to the side of Lima's head. Lima with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Wood to score with a decent uppercut. The fight stays on the outside here - Wood looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Wood closes the distance and pushes Lima back into the ropes. Wood trying to stall but Lima improves his position.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily. Wood looking to stall.
Lima is trying to pull guard but Wood turns him against the ropes and we stay in the clinch. Wood is pushing Lima up against the ropes, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word. Lima jumps guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lima is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. Wood trying to control the position from guard on top but Lima is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Wood throws a big elbow that misses. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Wood trying to control but Lima is working from the bottom. Lima has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Wood can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Lima keeping moving, preventing Wood from controlling successfully.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Wood slips nicely into half guard. Lima is concentrating on defense, preventing Wood from advancing position. Lima trying to hold on to Wood's head to control him but Wood postures up.
Lima is not content to let Wood control the position. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Wood is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Lima still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Lima has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Maddox Wood dominated that round. The cut man is working on Marcus Lima's cut. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Lima controlling the position well here. Wood rolled but Lima kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.
Wood is trying to stand. He's onto all fours with Lima on his back. Lima looks like he's slipping off but he's actually tansitioning to a beautiful armbar! Wood has to tap out to a very impressive submission!
