Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Marcelo Aurelio (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ronnie McDonald (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McDonald has chosen Get Busy Living as his entrance music. Ronnie McDonald told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
17 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Marcelo Aurelio!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

13 - 19 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ronnie McDonald!
The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice shot by Aurelio.
Aurelio throws a leg kick which misses McDonald's front leg but catches the back leg as McDonald tries to avoid it.
McDonald throws a sloppy head kick and Aurelio moves out of range easily.
Aurelio dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on McDonald. That did some damage!
McDonald takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Aurelio lands a nice shot that snaps McDonald's head back.
McDonald lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Aurelio circles away quickly and effectively.
McDonald closes the distance and pushes Aurelio back into the cage.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Aurelio creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
McDonald lands a left hand.

Aurelio fails to land with a short punch on the inside.

Aurelio digs a right hand into McDonald's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on McDonald's gas tank.
Aurelio tries to work over McDonald's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
McDonald ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. McDonald no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

McDonald manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Aurelio manages to get himself to full guard.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Aurelio is on top in guard.
Aurelio will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
McDonald pulls Aurelio in close to his closed guard and prevents Aurelio from doing any damage or advancing position.

McDonald dives in and grabs Aurelio's left leg, looking for a takedown. Aurelio pushes down on McDonald's head and hops out.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Aurelio holds on and takes a little breather.
McDonald postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

McDonald shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Aurelio as he avoids it easily.

Aurelio's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? McDonald is holding on here and Aurelio must be using up a lot of energy. McDonald has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Aurelio gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!
