Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rex Tanner! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Manoel Cabral! The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Alan Glass and Tiny Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Tanner clinches up against the cage. Tanner has hold of one of Cabral's legs. Cabral is fighting the takedown attempt but Tanner gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard. Tanner really is a fat lump. Cabral looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Cabral not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Tanner looking to sit in guard and control but Cabral gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Tanner looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Cabral passes into half guard.
Cabral moves into full mount! Tanner won't be happy about that! Cabral controlling his opponent. Tanner is wriggling around trying to escape.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Cabral takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Tanner tries to improve his position but instead Cabral has taken his back! Tanner tries to escape but Cabral has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cabral is cranking Tanner's head sideways - that looks painful. He's managed to get his other arm under the chin and this looks bad for Tanner! He's tightened the choke and Tanner is tapping out!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:22 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Manoel Cabral!
