Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, George Francis and Frank Dennis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Abrams throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
It seemed like Papaioanou was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Abrams throws the left hand but Papaioanou avoids the punch easily.
Papaioanou looks for the body kick but Abrams saw that one coming.

Papaioanou has Abrams pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Papaioanou pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Abrams tumbling to the mat - Papaioanou dives into Abrams's guard.

Papaioanou might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Abrams haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Abrams tries a head kick but it misses.

Papaioanou swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Abrams stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Abrams digs a good body shot into Papaioanou's ribs.

Papaioanou throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.
Abrams tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Abrams sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

It looks like Taite Abrams has been cut.
Papaioanou connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Papaioanou shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Abrams napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Lefteris Papaioanou showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Papaioanou throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Abrams stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Papaioanou decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Papaioanou is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Abrams is trying to escape and Papaioanou transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Abrams is forced to tap! Nice work there by Papaioanou! Very nice indeed!

Lefteris Papaioanou was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
