Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Pekka Hirvasluoma (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vladimir Shavnetski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hirvasluoma comes to the ring accompanied by H-Bolckx - Get in The Ring. Pekka Hirvasluoma had real problems making weight for this fight. After initially coming in at 267.0lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. He made it but it will have taken a lot out of him to cut those extra few pounds. Pekka Hirvasluoma has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Vladimir Shavnetski! The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Andrew Berry and James Atkins.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Shavnetski catches Hirvasluoma napping and connects with a big right hand that sends Hirvasluoma to the canvas!
It looks like Pekka Hirvasluoma has been cut. Shavnetski slips nicely into half guard. Shavnetski lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Shavnetski is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Shavnetski working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Hirvasluoma's thigh. Hirvasluoma counters though and makes it back to full guard. Shavnetski throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Hirvasluoma works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Shavnetski's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Shavnetski trying to control the position from guard on top but Hirvasluoma is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Shavnetski with a flurry of punches that miss.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hirvasluoma working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Shavnetski. Shavnetski is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Shavnetski works over Hirvasluoma with some ground and pound from guard. Shavnetski working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Shavnetski has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Hirvasluoma is breathing heavily. Shavnetski distracts Hirvasluoma with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Shavnetski's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Shavnetski with a flurry of punches that miss. Hirvasluoma avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Shavnetski trying to control but Hirvasluoma is working from the bottom. That's two minutes gone in the round. Hirvasluoma keeping full guard, as Shavnetski tries to pass. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Shavnetski working some strikes from top position. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Shavnetski with a flurry of punches that miss. Shavnetski postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Hirvasluoma has momentary wrist control but Shavnetski slips an elbow through the middle. Hirvasluoma really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Shavnetski postures up in Hirvasluoma's guard and throws a big left but Hirvasluoma blocks it. Hirvasluoma utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Shavnetski wants to control from the top but Hirvasluoma keeps moving. Shavnetski might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Hirvasluoma kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Shavnetski drops back looking for a leg! Hirvasluoma is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Hirvasluoma manages to kick Shavnetski off! Shavnetski jumps back into Hirvasluoma's guard.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Shavnetski connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt. Shavnetski looks to throw the jab but Hirvasluoma is out of range. A nice leg kick lands there from Shavnetski. Shavnetski is looking to slow Hirvasluoma down with leg kicks. Shavnetski keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Shavnetski tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Shavnetski takes a swing at Hirvasluoma's ribcage but misses. Hirvasluoma showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Shavnetski.
Shavnetski throws a right and a left that both miss.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Shavnetski misses with a hook. Hirvasluoma ducked under it nicely. Shavnetski has closed the distance and engaged Hirvasluoma in a clinch.
Shavnetski looking to slow down the pace here. Hirvasluoma throws a knee to the head but misses.

Shavnetski comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush. Shavnetski breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Shavnetski moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination. Shavnetski throws a hook but Hirvasluoma avoids it easily. Hirvasluoma lands a high kick!
That's five minutes gone in the round. Hirvasluoma swats away the attempt to clinch by Shavnetski. Shavnetski throws a lazy right hand but Hirvasluoma sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Shavnetski wants to clinch up but Hirvasluoma keeps it at a distance. Shavnetski tries to clinch up. Hirvasluoma avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
A jab from Shavnetski misses. Shavnetski scores with a nice strike. Hirvasluoma seems to be squinting his left eye. Perhaps he got a poke in that previous exchange. Shavnetski shows no mercy and swarms him with a barage of strikes! Hirvasluoma is backing up but Shavnetski catches him with a final right hook that drops him! Hirvasluoma covers up and the referee steps in to end the fight! Shavnetski Jumps to his feet and flashes his guns to the crowd. Oh yeah, baby! How'd you like them apples?!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 5:42 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Vladimir Shavnetski!
