The bell rings for round one and we are underway! O'Neil throws a hook but Dimelo blocks it. Dimelo connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son. O'Neil scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction. Dimelo scores with a slapping inside leg kick. We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Dimelo has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat. Dimelo keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
O'Neil uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Dimelo. Dimelo is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by O'Neil. Nice body punch from O'Neil. O'Neil connects with a body shot. Enzo Dimelo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Dimelo connects with a body shot that sends O'Neil's belly button to the back. Dimelo swings for the body but O'Neil moves out of range.
O'Neil was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Dimelo darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. O'Neil kicks off Dimelo and gets to his feet.

O'Neil obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. O'Neil looks to score with a jab to the body but Dimelo is just out of range. Dimelo looks to land a right hand but O'Neil moved out of range. O'Neil stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Dimelo. O'Neil digs a good body shot into Dimelo's ribs. O'Neil lands an overhand right. O'Neil throws a shot from downtown. Dimelo moves away and avoids it. O'Neil paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button. A swing and a miss from Dimelo. Dimelo drives through with a takedown into guard. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! O'Neil tries to land a sweep but no joy.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Dimelo slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. We've heard reports from his gym mates at ~T~ Troid - Gym that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. O'Neil knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Dimelo slows the pace down in half guard. O'Neil wants to improve his position but Dimelo is controlling well.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Dimelo closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Dimelo lands in his opponent's guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Aidan O'Neil dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

O'Neil throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Dimelo throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean. O'Neil is looking to counter the offense by Dimelo and move into the clinch. Dimelo needs to keep his hands up - O'Neil had a free shot at his head there. Dimelo looks to throw the jab but O'Neil is out of range. Dimelo throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky. Dimelo walks into a jab. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. O'Neil wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. O'Neil throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

O'Neil scores with a crisp jab that stopped Dimelo in his tracks. Dimelo drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles. O'Neil steps in with a hook that catches Dimelo right on the chin and knocks him to the floor! O'Neil follows him down with more strikes and that's all she wrote! Dimelo looks absolutely devastated.
