Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Rob Power (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kurt Liddell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Liddell has chosen Just Another Victim by Helmet & House of Pain as his entrance music. Rob Power has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Rob Power! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kurt Liddell! The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Dillan Fox and Gregory Folan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Power connects with a jab. Liddell on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere. Power lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Liddell circles away quickly and effectively. Liddell fails with a takedown attempt. A jab from Power does it's job there. Liddell doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Liddell takes a shot right to the bread basket. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! A left and a right from Power both land. Nice combination. Rob Power seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Excellent takedown into side control there by Liddell. Power is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Power manages to escape and get back to his feet! Liddell swings and misses with a shot to the body and Power counters with a nice leg kick. Liddell tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Power swivels and escapes. Liddell looks gassed! Power lands a head kick that stumbles Liddell and the fighters go to the mat.
That's one minute gone in the round. Liddell looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Power wants to stand but Liddell has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Power wants to pass the guard but Liddell is keeping the position. Power has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Liddell looking for a sweep. Not yet Liddell, not yet. Power trying to control the position from guard on top but Liddell is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Liddell wants to stand and escape but Power is having none of it. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Liddell can do anything to dispel that myth.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Power will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Liddell misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Rob Power has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kurt Liddell.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Power lands a nice looking kick to the body. Liddell takes a step back to recover. Power scores with a jab to the head.
Power goes for a high kick. It partially lands. Liddell takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Power will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Liddell needs to keep his hands up - Power had a free shot at his head there. A head kick misses from Power. Power lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Liddell shoots in and bounces Power off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Liddell lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Power working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Liddell. Liddell stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Power swivels though and keeps the full guard. Power is looking to stand up but Liddell isn't so interested in that idea. Liddell lands a couple of decent looking shots. Liddell won't allow Power to get back to his feet. Liddell pushes down on Power's leg and manages to get into half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Liddell not landing any meaningful shots this time. Power wants to get back to his feet. Nice strikes from Liddell there.

He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Liddell lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Liddell throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Liddell lands strikes from half guard. Liddell not landing any meaningful shots this time. Power avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Liddell. Liddell sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Power defending well though. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Liddell connects with a nice short shot to Power's temple. Liddell has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Liddell slips a nice elbow through Power's hands, connecting with Power's forehead. Power won't allow Liddell to pass to mount. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Rob Power dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Power lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw. Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Power. Liddell shrugs it off though. Liddell takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Kurt Liddell is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Power rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Liddell moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Power connects with a high kick. Power misses with a wild combination.

Liddell shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Power wants to stand but Liddell is controlling the position. Liddell chips away with some ground and pound.
That's one minute gone in the round. Liddell thows a big elbow that misses. Liddell scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Power preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Liddell distracts Power with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Power wants to stand up but Liddell is controlling him. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Liddell's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Power utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Liddell trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Liddell content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Liddell trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Liddell passes Power's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Power won't allow Liddell to pass to mount. Liddell thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Power's head. Liddell misses with a head shot. Power uses the momentum to regain guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Liddell with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Liddell throws a big right hand that misses. Power wants to stand up but Liddell is controlling him. Liddell throws and elbow that misses. Power uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Liddell's guard. Nice move by Power! Liddell tries to strike from the bottom.
Liddell is striking from the bottom but Power uses the opportunity to pass into half guard. Power seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Power thuds a left hand into Liddell's body. Liddell looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Power is fending him off so far but Liddell persists. Nope, Power circles away and we're back to standing. Liddell shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Power looks to land a combination. Liddell sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots. Power lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected. Power lands a lovely overhand right. Power thumps Liddell with a low kick. Nice takedown defense from Power. No joy for Liddell on that attempt. Rob Power has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kurt Liddell. Power connects with a solid leg kick. Nice jab there from Power. Power scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!

Power tests Liddell's chin there with a solid looking shot. Power throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.

A good leg kick by Power. Power displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination. Power scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Liddell misses with a double jab.
Power darts in and out, connecting with a jab. Liddell has a pretty nasty looking mouse under his right eye. Liddell tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Power scores with a nice right hand.

That's one minute gone in the round. A decent looking body kick lands there for Power. Power scores with a jab to the body. Power thuds his shin into the meat of Liddell's side. Power scores with the left hand. Liddell knows he should have avoided that one. Liddell throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Liddell walks forward, straight into a front kick from Power. Power lands with a nice body kick. Power connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son. Liddell shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Power's guard. Power preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Power wants to stand but Liddell is controlling the position. Liddell throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Power works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Liddell stops Power from standing up. Liddell is in close to Power's body, working some short punches and elbows. Power is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Liddell is controlling him.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Power looks to land a right hand but Liddell moved out of range. Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Power. Liddell drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Liddell chips away with some ground and pound. Liddell works a leg free and moves into half guard.

He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Power wants to get back to his feet. Liddell working over Power with some ground and pound. Power looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Power taking some punishment here, with Liddell in his half guard. Power is trying to stand back up but Liddell is controlling him
Liddell looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Power with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Power kicks off Liddell and gets to his feet. Liddell tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Power swivels and escapes. Rob Power has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kurt Liddell. Power lands with a right hand. Rob Power is winning the standup battle so far. Liddell tries for a takedown but Power sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Power fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Liddell misses the body punch and Power counters with a head kick. Power fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Liddell checks it well.

and Liddell counters with a nice double leg into guard. Liddell is looking to work some ground and pound but Power has wrist control. Liddell thows a big elbow that misses. Liddell won't allow Power to get back to his feet. Liddell connects with a couple of short punches. Liddell scoring with punches to the head and body. Kurt Liddell has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Liddell stands and steps away. Power gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Power lands with a nice combination. Liddell backs away looking to recover. Power misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Power checks a leg kick. Liddell tries to move into range but Power moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand. Rob Power is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. This has been an exciting period of action! Liddell fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Kurt Liddell. I think Power has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
