Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the heavyweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Quinton Randleman! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Yoshi Takano! The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Ben Zyskovitsi and Matti Vanhoillinen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Randleman takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt. Randleman has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Holding Cell in the buildup to the fight. Randleman shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Randleman showed some decent athleticism there. Takano wants to control but Randleman is keeping busy and won't allow it. Randleman content to control rather than advance. Takano blocking the ground and pound attempt from Randleman. Randleman lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Randleman scoring with strikes to the body and head. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Randleman looks to score some points with some ground and pound. Randleman controlling the pace. Randleman not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Randleman looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Randleman not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Takano not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Randleman in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Takano holds on and takes a little breather. Randleman has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Randleman landing some decent shots from guard. Randleman working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Randleman trying to control the position from guard on top but Takano is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Takano is trying to control the position but Randleman postures up. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Randleman lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Randleman looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Takano escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Randleman gives him a little smile and shakes his head. The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Yoshi Takano is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Takano with a hook.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Takano misses with a hook. Takano misses with a body punch
enabling Randleman to counter with a crisp jab. Randleman shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Takano as he avoids it easily. Randleman fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Takano is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own. Randleman sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs. Randleman throws a left and a right that both miss
and Takano counters with a stiff right hand. Takano moves out of range of the strikes. Takano tests Randleman's chin there with a solid looking shot. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Takano displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Randleman. Takano scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Randleman doesn't seem bothered though. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Randleman throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Takano slaps away a takedown attempt from Randleman, before circling back to the center of the mat. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Quinton Randleman dominated that round. That's time! Randleman's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Randleman throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Randleman shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Despite the aggression on Takano's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter. Takano defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Randleman. A little jabbing left from Takano on the counter but it doesn't find it's target. Takano thumps Randleman with a low kick. Takano swings for the body but Randleman moves out of range.
Quinton Randleman seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Randleman bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Takano's head. Takano throws out a loose jab but Randleman uses good head movement to avoid it. Randleman lands a jab-cross combination. Randleman misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

and Randleman counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Takano! Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground! The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Randleman trying to control the position but Takano is working away. Randleman scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Takano to see if he's OK. Randleman scoring with punches and elbows. Takano is being controlled here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Takano tries to bench press Randleman off him but Randleman keeps the position. Randleman fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Randleman tries to advance to mount but can't. Both fighters take a look at the clock. Takano tries to control the position but he's not in luck - Randleman easily slips into full mount! Takano is squirming around, avoiding Randleman's attempts to control the action. Takano wants to hold on but Randleman pushes him away. BOOM! Randleman connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Takano manages to regain half guard. Good work. Randleman with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Takano controlling the leg, holding on to half guard. Takano tries to get to full guard but Randleman has control of the leg. Randleman seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Takano does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Quinton Randleman overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Randleman takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Randleman trying to control the pace.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Takano looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Randleman missing with the ground and pound from half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Takano is refusing to be controlled, as Randleman sits in half guard. Takano wants to get back to full guard. Takano wants to control but Randleman is keeping busy.
Takano is controlling Randleman's position as best he can from this difficult position. Takano is staying active underneath Randleman, who seems content to just control the action from this position. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Takano trying to control here.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Takano taking some punishment here, with Randleman in his half guard. Takano is trying to maintain the position but Randleman is very close to passing his half guard. Ground and pound from Randleman. Takano trying to control but Randleman postures up.

Takano has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at . . .. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one. Takano is looking for a sweep. Randleman might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Takano throws a leg kick and Randleman counters with a shoot takedown. Takano fights it but they end up in guard. Randleman is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Takano trying to keep a closed guard but Randleman is proving a slippery customer.

Randleman lands a couple of decent looking shots. Randleman is pushing down on Takano's leg trying to pass to half guard. Takano is fighting to maintain full guard but Randleman has managed to sneak the leg through. Randleman seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Randleman is looking to take a break and control but Takano is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Randleman winds up and cracks Takano with a swinging punch to the side of the head. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Quinton Randleman clearly takes that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Takano fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Randleman is out of range. Randleman is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Takano can do to turn this around? Randleman lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Takano circles away quickly and effectively. Takano just misses with a punch to the body.
Randleman tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Takano was well out of range. Poor timing from Randleman. Randleman scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Randleman creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots. Takano trying his best to control but Randleman has mounted him. Randleman is in the full mount, landing strikes. Takano is still in real trouble! Can Randleman finish him? Takano tries to hold on but Randleman pushes him away. Randleman cracks Takano with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Randleman lands a big shot to the head and Takano winces in pain. He's tapped out due to strikes!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:59 of round 4, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). Quinton Randleman! Quinton Randleman is the new heavyweight champion! Quinton Randleman decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
