Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Dave Schultz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steve Lucas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dave Schultz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Steve Lucas!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Andrew Berry and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Schultz feints and then cracks Lucas's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Lucas down.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Lucas.
Schultz is looking for a counter combo.
Lucas looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
A lazy left from Lucas finds it's target.
A solid body kick from Schultz.
Schultz misses with a kick to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Schultz is looking to slow Lucas down with leg kicks.
Lucas looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Schultz is fending him off so far but Lucas persists. Nope, Schultz circles away and we're back to standing.
Dave Schultz has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Steve Lucas.
Lucas shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Schultz as he avoids it easily.
Schultz is looking for a counter combo.

Schultz wants to get up but he can't break Lucas's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Schultz is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Schultz wants to stand but Lucas is controlling his posture from full guard.

Lucas escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Schultz gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Lucas trying to keep a closed guard but Schultz is proving a slippery customer.

Lucas working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Schultz doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Schultz manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Schultz wants to stand but Lucas is controlling his posture from full guard.

Schultz stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Lucas swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Schultz looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

Lucas escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Schultz gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Our spies down at at Die Trying Gym inform us that Lucas has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?
Lucas wants to sweep but no luck.
Schultz postures up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Schultz would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Schultz knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Lucas on the ground.
Schultz trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Schultz is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Schultz closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Lucas's guard.
Schultz would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dave Schultz dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Lucas shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Schultz as he avoids it easily.

and Schultz counters with a right hand to the body.

Schultz tries to keep at a distance but Lucas has taken the fight into the clinch.

It looks like Steve Lucas has been cut.

Dave Schultz is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Lucas shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Schultz but Schultz pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Lucas darts in looking for a takedown but Schultz gets double underhooks and turns Lucas into the cage.
Schultz seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
Lucas looks for a takedown but Schultz sprawls well.
Schultz throws a big counter combination but Lucas scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Lucas swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

so Schultz counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Schultz wants to stand but Lucas has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Schultz gets to his feet - Lucas follows without any prompting.

Schultz moves into the clinch successfully.

Schultz pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Lucas shoots in for a takedown but Schultz shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
As Lucas looks to move away, Schultz throws a big counter combo but Lucas just gets out of the way.
Schultz lands a nice looking kick to the body. Lucas takes a step back to recover.
Steve Lucas seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Lucas throws a hook to the side of Schultz's head but Schultz sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Schultz lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Lucas tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Schultz counters with a two punch combo.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Schultz lands a left and a right that send Lucas crashing to the mat, dazed. Schultz thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

Lucas tries to clinch but Schultz moves away
and Schultz counters with a deadly accurate combination that rocks Lucas badly! He tries to strike back but Schultz puts an end to that with another precision combo that knocks Lucas out cold! Oh man, Lucas will never hear the end of this one!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:48 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Dave Schultz!
