Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Arturo Peters! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Death Apprentice! The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Jeff Smith and Roger Salmon.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Apprentice closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Peters has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Apprentice is working away from the top position though. Apprentice content to control rather than advance. Apprentice works his foot free and advances to mount. Apprentice tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Peters is looking to improve his position but Apprentice isn't that keen on the idea. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Apprentice controlling the position easily from mount. Peters really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Peters really trying hard to get back to half guard here.

Apprentice controlling from the full mount. Let's hope that Apprentice has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Peters regains half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Peters holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now. Apprentice prevents Peters from improving his position. Apprentice content to control rather than advance.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Apprentice looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Peters is trying to stand up here but Apprentice is controlling him well. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Apprentice performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Apprentice prevents Peters from standing back up.

Peters wants to get back to his feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Peters trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful. Apprentice stalling.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Peters takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming. Peters goes for a double leg but Apprentice avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Apprentice continues to drive forward. Peters tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Apprentice defends well and Peters ends up having to push Apprentice into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Apprentice fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Peters sprawls well initially but Apprentice persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Apprentice slows the pace down in half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Peters pushes Apprentice off looking to stand but Apprentice dives back in and keeps control.
Peters is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Apprentice's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Apprentice's back! Peters working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet. Peters doesn't have the hooks in and Apprentice manages to turn into his guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Apprentice pushing down on Peters's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Peters wants to get back to his feet. Peters is breathing heavily. Peters is looking to improve his position.
Peters is looking to escape. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Apprentice with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. Peters is in trouble now - Apprentice has advanced to mount! Apprentice controlling from the full mount. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Death Apprentice dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

That's one minute gone in the round. Peters wants to sweep but no luck. Peters wants to stand but Apprentice is controlling the position. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Apprentice tries to free his leg and advance position but Peters is retaining full guard. Apprentice is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. We're seeing a lot of stalling here from Apprentice.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Apprentice throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Peters trying to control from the bottom.
Apprentice works his way into side control. Apprentice is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Peters's shoulder. That is not cool. Peters pushes Apprentice away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Apprentice gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. Peters tries to buck Apprentice off but Apprentice is having none of it. Apprentice controlling from side mount. Peters is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Peters wants to get back to his feet.
Still in half guard, Apprentice seems content to control. Apprentice has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Yet more stalling tactics from Apprentice. Peters looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Apprentice wants to pass to mount but Peters is defending the position. Apprentice is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Apprentice throws a head kick but Peters moves out of range.
Peters shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Apprentice pinned against the cage. Apprentice gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Apprentice throws a right and a left that both miss. Peters drops down looking for a counter takedown but Apprentice sprawls and moves away. Death Apprentice seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Apprentice scores with a takedown into Peters's guard. Apprentice sitting in guard here, content to control. Peters wants to sweep here but Apprentice controlling him for the moment. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Apprentice won't allow Peters to get back to his feet. Apprentice content to stall in guard here. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Death Apprentice showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

It looked like Peters was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit. Peters shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Apprentice as he avoids it easily. Peters fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Peters blocks a low kick nicely. Peters shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Apprentice as he avoids it easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Arturo Peters. That's going to take a lot out of him. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Peters is defended easily by Apprentice. Apprentice fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Peters to the ground. Apprentice is now in Peters's guard. Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Apprentice is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Peters wants to stand up but Apprentice is controlling him. Apprentice stays in close to Peters's body and controls the position. Apprentice's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Peters is looking to stand up but Apprentice isn't so interested in that idea. Apprentice is stalling in the full guard. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Peters has closed the distance and engaged Apprentice in a clinch.
Apprentice has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Peters is trying to keep an underhook but Apprentice manages to get the takedown into half guard. Peters tries to roll over but Apprentice keeps him under control. Apprentice seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Peters pushes Apprentice off and gets back to his feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Peters throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Apprentice's waist but Apprentice gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Peters off to one side. Peters shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Apprentice as he jumps to the side. Apprentice looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Death Apprentice is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Apprentice sitting in guard here, content to control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Apprentice won't allow Peters to sweep him here. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Apprentice controls from within his opponent's guard.

In favor of your winner, by unanimous decision... Death Apprentice! Death Apprentice decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
