Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between HL Mencken (ranked 193 p4p, 6 weight class) and Daniel Crushman (ranked 85 p4p, 3 weight class). Mencken comes to the cage accompanied by Circle Jerks - Question Authority. This should be a great matchup!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, HL Mencken!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Daniel Crushman!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Crushman throws a hook to the side of Mencken's head but Mencken sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Crushman fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Mencken.

Crushman pushes Mencken up against the cage in a clinch.
Crushman scores with a nice hook to the head.
Crushman lands a left hand that snaps the head of Mencken backwards.
Crushman goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Mencken goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Crushman drops down looking for an ankle pick but Mencken pulls his leg out and moves away.
Mencken scores with a sloppy right hand. Crushman should have avoided that one.


It looks like Daniel Crushman has been cut.
Crushman fails with a takedown attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mencken avoids the body shot from Crushman.
Crushman misses with a looping left.
Mencken avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

and Crushman makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Crushman is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Mencken has managed to free his arm - good work.

Mencken loads up on a big right hand but Crushman slips the punch.
Crushman lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.

Crushman closes this distance looking for a takedown but Mencken circles away.

It looked like Mencken was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Crushman.
Crushman fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Mencken checks it well.
Mencken stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Mencken wants it to stay on the feet.
Mencken moves away from the strike by Crushman.
Mencken wants to slow Crushman down by chopping away at his legs.
Crushman lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
That kick from Crushman tenderised Mencken's leg. Mencken is trying to keep his angry face on.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Mencken lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
A decent looking cross lands there for Mencken.
Mencken keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Crushman closes the distance but Mencken moves to the side
and Mencken counters with a nice body shot.
Mencken bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Crushman's head.
A nice inside leg kick there by Mencken. That's going to slow Crushman down.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Mencken appeared to be looking to counter that last move with a leg kick.

Crushman throws a hook but Mencken avoids it easily.

Mencken feinted there with a counter leg kick.
Mencken throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Crushman.
Crushman sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Crushman tries to score with a low kick but Mencken moves his leg out of the way.

and Mencken counters with a stiff right hand.


That has opened up Daniel Crushman's cut even more.
Crushman is breathing heavily.
Crushman checks a low kick from Mencken.
Mencken does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Crushman gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Crushman misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Mencken smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Mencken uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Crushman.
Crushman avoids a punch combination nicely.

Mencken on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Crushman. Crushman obviously looking to wear him down.
Crushman swings for the body but Mencken moves out of range.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

The cut above Daniel Crushman's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
HL Mencken is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Crushman takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Good leg kick by Mencken there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Mencken buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Mencken stuns Crushman with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Mencken dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Crushman. That did some damage!

Crushman throws a shot from downtown. Mencken moves away and avoids it.

Mencken lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
You can see that Crushman has visibly slowed down as a result of the leg kicks
Mencken feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Crushman's calf.
Crushman scores with a hook to the body. Mencken takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Mencken shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Crushman! But no joy.

Crushman walks into a stiff left hand from Mencken.

and Crushman counters with a three punch combo that has Mencken backing up. Mencken nods at Crushman to acknowledge the strikes.
Crushman slips a straight right by Mencken.
Donk. Mencken catches Crushman right on the button with a cross.
Daniel Crushman has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Crushman is still on wobbly legs! Can Mencken finish him?


Daniel Crushman's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Crushman jabbing away but nothing is landing.
BOOM! Mencken lands a beautiful left hook that drops Crushman. Crushman tries to recover but Mencken is having none of it, landing more punishing shots from mount. One final crushing shot and Crushman lies motionless on the canvas. The fight is over!
